Meltem's MiNi Adventure around the island of Ireland... Yep that's right I'm off travelling again. The problem is once you've started you just don't want to stop!!! This time I thought I'd travel places closer to home, with Paddy's day coming up I thought Ireland was as good a place than any. And having good friends such as Roisin and Dave living in Dublin, whom I got to know on my travels around New Zealand, I thought I'd take the opportunity to hit two birds with one stone. I flew into Dublin on the 17th March St Patrick's Day. I spent [View Full Entry]

Oh my god! I have had one of the most difficult journeys in my whole year!!! Travelling Australia and New Zealand is a piece of cake compared to Asia!!! Firstly my bag was over weight so I had to take some on as hand luggage but I was in a rush and put my wash bag in, which has my nail scissors, twisors etc... Also they have a new rule of not carrying liquids in your hand luggage and I had all my shampoos etc (yes I do still own a bottle of shampoo so you will be pleased to [View Full Entry]

I should now be back at home reunited with my friends and family. But I'm not! Instead I am still in Thailand...Why? Cos my judgement got the better of me and I miscalculated my days and missed my flight. Infact I was none the wiser until I got a text on my Oz mob from Barbara asking if I had arrived in the UK yet and I thought it was a little strange?? Later today I then get a text and email from my mum and sister saying they were at the airport and asking where I was??? Errmm, I was [View Full Entry]

My life is never complete without some form of drama going on in or around my life. Hence my flight from Sydney to Singapore had to make an unplanned stop at Darwin as there was drug trafficking going on. And the man who was smuggling the drugs 'in his stomach' took a turn for the worst! While the paramedics and police did their stuff all passengers had to remain on the plane for 2 hours. I took this opportunity to call Laura, Alissa, Tom and my mum, and surprise them that after a 5 hour flight (that's how long it takes [View Full Entry]

The Merlion

So the countdown of my days in Australia began... Once arriving back in Sydney I got in contact with my old housemates (John, Simon and Dave) and was delighted to find out that they were still at the old flat and that I could crash on the couch. It was so wired being back in Sydney let alone back at the flat. I made myself a little schedule where I tried to meet up with all my old and new friends for the one last time. I ended up over booking myself and unfortunately couldn't get to see everyone. It [View Full Entry]

Coming upto Anzac Day, 25th April I moved on from the beautiful town of Noosa and headed down to Brisbane. After checking into the hostel and walking around the city I was glad to be staying only one night. I have to say it's my least favorite city in Oz and I can't believe they lock all their public toilets before 5pm!!! (Although it may be a public holiday, needs, wants and musts!) The next day I traveled south missing out Surfer Paradise arriving to the hippy town Byron Bay. I have previously been here when I ended my 5 [View Full Entry]

And then came the hippies!!!
Classy!

It had to be done!! Coming all the way to Australia, travelling up the East coast and not going to Australia Zoo would just be a sin!! Whether you would want to go in the memory of the late Crocodile Hunter Steve Irwin or to see the amazing range of Australian animals it is a must... I caught a free transfer bus from Noosa to Beerwah on route watching a video about the becoming of Steve Irwin. It was interesting to find out that he caught his first croc at the age of 9, that his dad played a big [View Full Entry]

After leaving Laura in Hervey Bay I headed down 4,5 hours south to a little town called Noosa Heads. I checked into a hostel which is actually a listed building and a popular destination for locals. I booked in for 3 nights while waiting for my canoeing trip to start. I chilled on the beautiful beaches and walked the walking tracks of the national park spotting koalas on the way. I met a local guy who was more than happy to show me the local sights, its always better to see it as a local then a tourist.. I bumped [View Full Entry]

River of mirrors!
Monkey came canoeing too!

After a 4 hour bus journey I arrived in Hervey Bay and was reunited with Laura again! It was great to catch up with Laura, even though we speak to each other more or less everyday we were still chattering on like two little excited kids who hadn‘t seen each other for months.. After a goodnights sleep we packed our bags, signed our lives and our credit card details away and got ready for our Fraser Island adventure. In total there were 11 people, 4 boys and 7 girls, on our 4x4 which we called ’Sandy’. After the 40 minute [View Full Entry]

... how sweet the sound that saved a wretch like me. I once was lost but now I'm found was blind but now I see! It's true that almost a year ago now I was a lost sole who wanted to be happy but couldn't. Since my travels I have grown up to the true meaning of happiness and have learnt that the main ingrediance is to be content with yourself. I count my lucky stars to how fortunate I have been with all my travel experiences and will cherish them for the rest of my life. I also believe [View Full Entry]
