Laos, Thailand, Malaysia and Singapore

Irene and Monk originally planned the first half of this trip for February 2009 but we found out about Irene's illness the week before we were due to travel.
Nellie and Monk are planning to spend some time in Luang Prabang in Northern Laos before taking a slow boat up the Mekong River to Houay Xai and then crossing the border into Northern Thailand at Chiang Khong. After spending a few days in Chiang Rai and then Chiang Mai, Monk will meet up with Floss and Flower in Bangkok on January 23rd. We will leave Bangkok on January 31st on the Eastern Oriental Express and travel down through Thailand and Malaysia arriving in Singapore on February 3rd.
Irene wanted Floss and Flower to experience the train trip. It will be painful for all of us to do it without Irene, however, we cannot allow that awful disease to consume us completely.
