The real voyage of discovery consists not in seeking new landscapes but in having new eyes.
Marcel Proust

Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.
Mark Twain

When spotted a very cheap Ryanair-flight straight from Tampere to Dublin, all we could do was to book and go! You always need a little get away-break once in a while anyway, eh? So, after a little car ride to Pirkkala on a cold, gray Wednesday noon we took the plane and soon we could already enjoy the direct sunlight above the fluffy clouds. Spectacular! Dublin airport was really nice and easy, directly when walking out there were the bus stops so could take the bus heading to town. You've got couple of alternatives: the more expensive bus by Airlink (6e) 748 and 747, or the cheaper Dublin Bus (1,90e) 16A or 41 for example. 16A goes to the main city street, O'Connell St., and by 41 you'll get to the Lower Abbey Street. The 41 ... read more

What has happened to New Delhi? This place just feels so different than a month ago! Or maybe the change has happened to us. But anyway, Delhi is just great. Still polluted, noisy, slightly chaotic, very hot (they had some heavy rain on Thursday, the monsoon was due to arrive on 29th, but so far it's been dry as in Sahara), but it doesn't matter at all. Maybe we feel like this because it's our last morning in India. The morning sun was warm and gentle, we were walking in the Main Bazaar trying to find a nice breakfast place in order to celebrate Emma's birthday. Restaurant Metropolis has an honor to be our choice for this special occasion with it's superb menu and a comfortable atmostphere! Our journey from Rishikesh to Delhi went really ... read more

After one of the worst bus trips of my life so far, we took off from the bus at a place that looked like a bus station. It was so hot, we seriously regretted leaving the cool temperatures behind us, but the next task was to find a place to stay. It was quite calm afternoon, no clouds, sun burning on us, and we didn't know where we were. Typical. After a short walk we reached the "main road" of the city I guess. Decided to take a rickshaw, and after some heavy bargaining (we've started to be really good), asked the driver if he knew any nice hotels/hostels. This time it was worth listening to the driver (other times the scenario has been different), because the place he took us was just fantastic! It's called ... read more

Finally it was time to say goodbye to Delhi! Emma and I said bye for the boys after a really nice evening at the Metropolis Restaurant in the Main Bazaar-area (they had the best walnut-brownie ever, and the atmosphere was really nice- kind of a cool break from the noisy street-life of Delhi!). The air was still almost burning hot at 22h as we took the taxi for the Old Delhi train station about 8 km from New Delhi. Taxi was a great option after numerous auto-rickshaw-trips which are so noisy and stressing. The train was supposed to leave at 22h40. We had some trouble to figure out our place, the cars are marked with letters, such as AC three etc. Ours was AS2. The train was supposed to leave from platform 5, but eventually ... read more
