| 4th December 2007 Travelling Lady | Bulgaria - From: Rural Bulgaria Hi Adam, I haven't checked my blog for some months. I moved back to Canada last spring and life has a way of getting in the way. I got mixed feelings about the gypsies (Roma). I guess the easiest way to put it that they live by their own set of rules. Maybe talk to others who need to leave their houses vacant. Can you rent it out when you are not there? Wish I could be of more help. Did you see my story about the gypsies under Romania? |
| 13th September 2007 Adham | HELP - From: Rural Bulgaria Hi Im going to buy an old farm house in the countryside but ill hardly be there Will it be safe from the Gypsies? Are they safe people?? thanks Adham |
| 4th May 2007 VAwinelady | Great journal - From: Turkey Time Donna, I've been reading "Turkey blogs" in advance of an extended stay there this summer. I'm so glad that I finally came across yours as I was beginning to think all English-speaking tourists there were 20-somethings who were more concerned about discos and bars than anything else. Thanks for the research and thoughtful comments. Enjoy the rest of your trek! |
| 10th March 2007 Chris M | Welcome back?! - From: Life on the Road Good work! I just caught up with the last blog and realized you have probably landed in Canader. Thanks for the interesting travelogue. |

| 3rd March 2007 Selma | Quick trips - From: Gay Paree It looks like you are beginning to squeeze in a few extra before heading back to Canada. Any idea of ETA or did I miss that? The little history re your trip to France and the photos are very welcome. Take care - Selma |
| 28th February 2007 Selma | Another great experience! - From: Turkey Time Donna I have finally caught up with your last two trips. They both sound (and look) great. Your experience just proves how important it is to "see for yourself". Seeing these places hthrough your eyes has been a great experience. I'm sure I am not alone in looking forward to your return and then to hear even more. Keep on moving travelling lady. - Selma |
| 28th February 2007 Jen | I love France! - From: Gay Paree Hi again, I agree, traveling in Turkey as a woman doesn't seem to be a problem. I think there are a lot of misconceptions and fear about muslim countries. They are not all the same. I have been to France three times, and I loved each trip. I too have found French people, even Parisians, to be nice and welcoming. Again, there are a lot of misconceptions. I did not have a chance to go to Versaille on any of my trips to France, so I especially enjoyed your pictures! Jen |
| 26th February 2007 Travelling Lady | I love Turkey - From: Sultans, Mosques and Turkish Baths Hi Jen, Thanks for contacting me. I visited Morocco twice--couple of years ago and about 20 years ago. You are right, fabulous country. Funny how many people told me that going to Turkey would be a mistake--woman on her own in a Muslim country. I couldn't have been treated better. Even better--it is still a bargain. thanks again, Donna |
| 26th February 2007 Marg Hambly | Sultans.... - From: Sultans, Mosques and Turkish Baths These last two 'blogs' were amazing. For some reason I didn't get the 'Turkey Time' blog initially so was glad to catch up on your time over Christmas & New Years - the New years party sounds like a blast but I'm not so sure about your Turkish bath...It didn't really sound like a lot of fun! Thanks for all the pictures - they are worth a thousand words! They help us appreciate what you are seeing & experiencing - all but the hospitality part and you can fill us in on more of that when you get back - which by the way is approaching quickly. Take care ....looking forward to seeing you Marg |
| 19th February 2007 Jen | I love Turkey - From: Sultans, Mosques and Turkish Baths Hello You dont know me, but I have been reading your travel blog b/c I love traveling. A few years ago I went on a trip in college, and I studied for a month in Turkey. Most of my time was spent in Istanbul, but I also traveled to Cappadocia & Ephesis like you did. Did you visit the Hagia Sophia? That was my favorite place in Istanbul. Turkish people are wonderful & Turkey is a very fun & beautiful country. I enjoy looking at your photos & remembering my own trip. I don't know if its in your plans, but another country I have spent a lot of time in is Morocco. Marakkesh is soooo interesting. If you have time, I'd add it to your list of places to visit. Moroccans are also extremely friendly. I am sure you could find a chea flight from Europe to Morocco, but go in the spring or fall to avoid the heat of the summer. Thanks for all the interesting blogs! |

| 31st August 2006 Marg Hambly | Budapest - From: Hungarian Hospitality You can tell you liked this best - and we can see why! It's old, it's new, it's quaint and it's clean. How special you must have felt getting such treatment from the mayor! There's an saying that says, "You might forget what people say. You might forget what people did but you will never forget how they made you feel". How true is that? Budapest is not a place that I would have thought of visiting before - until now. Take care... Marg |

| 5th August 2006 Selma | Travelling Lady looks healthy - From: Warsaw and Krakow Hi Donna You do look great. That's a wonderful selection of photos. I may be mistaken but it seems to me the Wilanow Castle was used in several war pictures a number of years back. Just in case you hadn't heard, its been pretty hot and humid here too. I have put my Nomination Papers in to run in the upcoming November municipal election for another term. I imagine the list of candidates will be long this year. We will have to wait until the end of September to see how that shapes up. Stay healthy and keep enjoying your and sharing your travels. - Selma |

I'm impressed with the churches and countryside but am curious to know the significance of the 'bread & salt' welcoming tradition. What about the arts and / or music - did you have much exposure to this side of their culture? By the way ...'good picture of you - even if you are cold!' Take care... Marg |

| 9th June 2006 Marg Hambly | Amsterdam... - From: The museums of Amsterdam This looks and sounds like a beautiful spot. The wooden shoes depicted are gorgeous but I don't think I could dance much of a jig in them. Did you try any on to see just how comfortable they really are? These types of museums give you a real visual of what life was really like - still say I 'm glad to be living in this era. Take care... Marg |

We have had quite a bit of rain these past few days and little sunshine. Everyone's grass is looking great. The Belleville Public Library and John M. Parrott Art Gallery had the Official Opening May 26th. There is still work to be completed in and out of the library but it is a beautiful, functional building. The "Opening" was very exciting and special. Stay in touch and keep on moving. - Selma |
