The place: A dingy bar in a small town called Uster, filled to the brim with smoke from the cigarettes of the patrons that frequent the area and enjoy the company of others like them who also smell of stale beer. Reasons for being there... 1) Sheer and complete boredom 2) Wish for a good old college bar atmosphere 3) Drink prices 4) Relative closeness to Ashley's apartment/townhouse It may have been our utter lack of originality but for some reason on this Friday night we decided to stay close to where we were staying for the night and go out [View Full Entry]

I am convinced that Europeans enjoy scaring the bejesus out of me whilst I am driving. So far I have driven a grand total of three times in this lovely country and each time I seem to learn something new about the locals driving techniques or lack there of. Granted I cannot really judge them too harshly because my own skills would fall far below of what most would consider fantastic abilities behind the wheel but at least I can stay in my own lane without causing near panic attacks to my passengers... anymore (I swear Jezl that I will never [View Full Entry]

It has been a few days and already I am behind on my writings. This week has been incredibly busy, working about 50 hours in total with one day starting at 7:30am and ending at midnight. During the week it seems like I will not have too much time to myself, which is fine now since I don't really have too many people in my phone yet. However I just don't know if I will be able to continue this pace for a whole year. I am hoping that once all the kids activities begin my time to myself will increase. [View Full Entry]

So it was my first day on the job today as an Au-Pair. Everything was going very smoothly all morning, with no problems. I made breakfast, got the kids up with the help of their Mom and after learning the security code went back to my apartment. Waiting patiently until Sean came home for lunch. And then I tried to unlock the door and turn off the alarm... I thought I had done it correctly after it stopped making noises, so I sat down to read my book. That's when the cops showed up, two of them to be exact. It [View Full Entry]

It is officially the last day of my first weekend in Zurich. After overcoming my airsickness that lasted through Copenhagen and jet lag, which lasted until today, I feel completely aware of my surroundings. The first two days in Switzerland where spent unpacking in my new apartment, location bottom floor of a guesthouse situated next to Lake Zurich. Not at all a bad place to be. The village that I live in is small, only 1,100 residents but does have everything you could need close at hand. For example should I wish to have chicken for dinner, the local butcher is [View Full Entry]

It is officially the day that I will be leaving for Zurich to meet a family I have not met in person. What the hell am I doing?! This past 24 hours have been hectic, with my going away party and trying to see all my closest friends before I fly away. The one thing that I hate most about leaving is calling the bank. No matter how many times I call, something seems to happen when it comes to using my cards overseas. Always, it is the one reliable thing about Bank of America. Not only was I on hold [View Full Entry]

Current Location: Sitting on my deck overlooking Puget Sound I am leaving the States in less than 48 hours and have not placed one single item into my bags. Period. As my current location suggests I am not in a hurry to do so at the moment. Life this summer in Seattle has been a crazy hectic time frame. With graduation from college to working full time at Nordstrom, not having any clue as to what I would be doing after said graduation occurred. For me I enjoy not knowing what is going to be happening next in life. There is [View Full Entry]

A reflection on Italy: I am currently sitting in my apartment in Florence wishing that I did not have to leave Europe. Everything that I have done upon entering this Continent has been an eye opening, learning experience. In order to prepare for my trip I read other travel blogs, watched movies, and read up on current events, not that any of it readied me for the four months in Italy. Here is a list of things that I will and will not miss about the country I have called home. Will: 1. I will miss the shopping. Okay I realize [View Full Entry]

Purgatory

I can't believe how long it has taken me to finally write this blog, one month after I was actually in Holland to be exact. The only excuse I have is that I have been experiencing a mixture of embarrassment and foolishness. A combination that has postponed me from putting this on the Internet, but I know has to be a part of my travel blog that would include almost everything that I have done while living abroad. Although I am no longer living in Italy and currently am writing this from the comfort of my home watching the snowfall outside, [View Full Entry]

Roman Holiday Europe » Italy » Lazio » Rome
This was a weekend that I had been looking forward to for some time. I have always wanted to travel to Rome and see the famous city that Hollywood has filmed many times over. A place that I have read about in my history books but had yet to actually visit even though Florence is such a short distance away. Originally I was supposed to be going to Milan with my fashion class but instead I ended up passing on the trip in order to spend time with my Mom and her friend Liz in Rome. Although I had very much [View Full Entry]
