| 7th October 2007 TrafficJan82 | Unfortunately... - From: Stereotypes challenged ...I didn't have enough time to meet the soldier again, but ended up meeting plenty of Belarussians in Lepel, where I then spent 3 weeks with a humanitarian aid organisation, building houses. And I have to say: I haven't met a single person in Belarus that fits the stereotypes. |
| 1st October 2007 Kristina | Glad - From: Stereotypes challenged I'm so glad you are meeting REAL Belarusians, rather than the grumpy border/passport control types that most people talk about. I have been visiting Belarus for 15 years and I find them to be wonderfully open and generous. If you were to take up the military man on his offer you'd probably end up with a delicious meal, lots of vodka and possibly a banya (sauna) before the night was done. Good luck, and I hope you enjoy the rest of your trip through my second home! |
| 24th September 2007 TrafficJan82 | Zgon - From: A day off I had no idea. So I can claim I've been through the moment of death, spent half a day there, and I'm still alive. Impressive! |
