We are taking off on June 17, 2008 to (semi) travel around the world! :-)

First we will go to London to visit our friend, Autumn, and her daughter, Rose. Next is Zanzibar for some sun, sailing and relaxation. After Zanzibar we will travel to Malawi where we will do volunteer work for the Joshua Orphan Care Center and explore the country and culture. Next we return to Tanzania where we will go on safari thru Lake Manyar Park, the Serengeti and the Ngorongoro Crater. Then we journey on to Bali for surfing, scuba diving, spas and exploration. Finally, we will seperate and go our own course... Laurel will go to India to live in an ashram for a month and Tony will go to Hong Kong to visit his friend, John and then Shanghai, China to visit another friend, Simon.

We can't wait!!!

Keep checking back for updates and pictures of our adventure!

Hi there! We're both home now. India was amazing! The ashram was heaven on earth. It was so mystical, beautiful and a life changing experience for me. I meditated, practiced yoga and helped run the mini snack area called Amrit. I really purified and feel like a new woman. What a blessing to have had the opportunity to spend time there. The ashram is located in the Tansa Valley in a little village called Ganeshpuri. It's about 2.5 hours from Mumbai. I was there during monsoon so it rained a lot and the land was very green and lush. Although it [View Full Entry]

Last few weeks of travel... Asia » China » Tibet » Lhasa
Hello Everyone, Well this is the last leg of the trip for Laurel and I. She's tucked away in India right now, however I still have access to the web so will post the last weeks of my trip before I head home. Last week I was in Hong Kong and following that was able to secure a last minute trip to Tibet. The Tibet tour included travel from Lhasa to Everest. As things are a little delicate with the Chinese presence there, it took me a few attempts to secure a travel permit and tour to vist. The effort was [View Full Entry]

Hi there! Our last week here we have been exploring Bali. We hired a private driver and he took us all over the island. We haven't stayed in a hotel for more then one night in a week, but it's been great because we really feel like we got to see Bali outside of all the touristy areas. The pictures that we have posted are some of our favorite pics from Bali! Our diving pics are on a disc and the computer we're using does not have a drive so those pics will have to wait until we get home. ;0) [View Full Entry]

We are currently at the Gili Islands on the North West tip of Lombok which is an island just east of Bali. We are super happy to be here as the diving is INSANE! (we'll post pics in our next blog) and the island is very mellow and has a great vibe. There are no cars, only bicycles and horse drawn buggies! The locals are all really nice and it's absolutely gorgeous! We met up with Barbara and John last Sunday at the airport and spent time bouncing around from Uluwatu to Seminyak and then back to Uluwatu looking for good [View Full Entry]

We made it to Bali! Asia » Indonesia » Bali » Canggu
To all of our friends who said we would love Bali, you were right! It is amazing here! We woke up this morning to perfect, glassy, head high A frames peeling right and left, brah! It's so on! We arrived on July 30th at 12:00 AM, just in time for Tony's birthday! To celebrate we both cut 3 inches off our hair! Do you like Tony's? :0) Afterwards we had a yummy dinner at Ku De Ta and then headed to the spa for a massage, mani and pedi. To finish off the night we went to a reggae club called [View Full Entry]

Hello everyone. Well we're finishing off the last days in Africa. Currently we're in Tanga, a few hours north of Dar Es Salaam on the East Coast of Tanzania....and there is nothing to do here. Fortunately, we were able to employ the local rasta man/tour guide to show us the truly memorable parts of Tanga. This includes three "attactractions" that did turn out to be a highlight of our trip. First was our visit to the Amboni Caves, which is a network of caves covering 247 square kilometers. There are a total of 12 separate caves of which only 2 were [View Full Entry]

Hi there! All we can say is that Safari in the Serengeti, Arusha National Park, Lake Manyara and the Ngorongoro Crater was incredible! We did a camping safari which was a lot of fun! And yes, all of the pictures we posted below we did actually take ourselves! We were fortunate, and got to see what they call the Big Five - lions, cheetahs, elephants, a black rhino with a youngster and many, many buffalo. We also saw a lot of baby animals! Camping in the serengeti during the full moon was breath taking! Hope you enjoy the pics! We have [View Full Entry]

Jambo! We are now in Arusha. We left Balntyre, Malawi on Thursday afternoon after having 10 days in Malawi! We decided to fly back to Tanzania this time rather then taking another 2 day long bus ride! :0) Malawi was wonderful! We are in love with the country as well as the people! They are all so kind, and our hostess, Sylvia, the woman who runs the Joshua Orphan Care Center treated us like family! It was the best time we have had so far in Africa. A quick summary... We had the opportunity to spend some time at the Namasimba [View Full Entry]

Hi! We've made it to Lilongwe, Malawi! And what a journey it has been... In order to save a lot of money we decided to take a bus rather then a flight to Malawi. When we bought the tickets we were told that the trip would be around 36 hours!!! AAHHHH! But we thought...Hey, what a great way to see the country side of Tanzania and travel with the local African people! So...we left Dar Es Salaam on Saturday morning at 6:00 AM and just finally made it to Lilongwe today! - Monday at 6:30 AM! It took us 48.5 hours [View Full Entry]
