The train to Belgrade was straight forward enough, 12 hours overnight in a 3 bed carriage with no other travellers in it! Luxury! The last few days have been the most enjoyable Ive had I think. I fell in love with Belgrade pretty quickly, its such a vibrant city. Loads of cafes and bars, a really cool fort at the top of town and it wasnt far to a massive park with loads of bike paths and walking trails surrounding a huge lake. I rented a bike and bombed about for a bit through forest trails and came to a point on the lake where they had a rig set up to waterski on. It was similar to a ski lift in the you grabbed a wire and it pulled you in a circle around the ... read more

Varna to Bucharest was an absolute mission!! I went to the train station in the day to get a seat reservation for the 10pm train. I was told by two people this wasn't necessary so went on my merry way to the beach. However, when I came back at 9 I tried to get on and was told I did in fact need a reservation... However, as it is during high season, all of these had gone as Romanians and Bulgarians headed home from their holidays. I was told by the conductor, who said he didnt know was interrail was, was to buy a ticket from him for 80 US dollars! Seeing as the reservation should have been around a quid, i told him where to stick it. So I found another train which was heading ... read more

I'm ashamed to say I spent most of my final 2 days in Istanbul in a pub, watching the cricket. I think culture is over rated anyway. Had so much fun it was unbeleivable though. Started off with a pub of about 40 aussies and 5 brits and ended up with the complete reverse! Met a lad called Andy who notcied my Cuths day tshirt. Turns out he was a cuthsman and was with a mate from Aidens. Pretty small world! I did see a few sites, including the blue mosque which I finally got to outside of prayer time. It was absolutely wicked inside and a good place to chill out and read up on Islam. As Ramadam had just started the nights were really good fun, everyone breaking their fast at around 7ish causing ... read more

I arrıved ın Istanbul around midday local time, absolutely knackered as ıt took 14 hours door to door, due to a very long wait at the airport and a taxi driver with no idea where he was going when i arrıved. The city is a really cool place, almost everywhere you look there are massive mosques, museums, cafes and bars. The whole place is lıke one big traffic jam, a constant stream of taxis, trams, buses and lorries all day long. So far I have visited several mosques, which are all jaw dropping ınside, as well as the unbelievably busy grand bazaar. It is literally jam packed with every type of shop you can imagıne, apparently over 4000 in all! I spend almost 2 hours wandering about and ended up getting very lost. I am staying ... read more
