how curious - From: A tail of three cities
How did the panda get in the tree? It kinda looks like he's not entirely sure himself. It's a funny thing conservation. Not content with ruining our own evolutionary development with western medicine we now have stringent laws to ensure that celibate, infanticidal, lazy idiot animals propagate their celibate, infanticidal, lazy idiot genes into a new generation! WHY? Who's the guy in the taoist temple who looks like the one who chose poorly in Indiana Jones and the last crusade. Most of all how come I've only just got this almost a month after seeing you in Battersea Park and a couple of days after the "come to our leaving drinks" email? Good work by the way. Dan

With my vertigo I don't think I'd want to do the Cloudy Tourist Road. Unless I'm feeling particularly cloudy, that is. Did you guys REALLY do that trek? And you REALLY, SERIOUSLY recommending it? 'Scuse me a moment while I go and lie down. The less vertiginous pictures are beautiful, National Geographic are running a photo comp at the moment which I suggest you enter, that's if you can decide which of your photos to use - they're all absolutely stunning. I'm going to love meeting up with you both when you're back but I'm sure going to miss your blogs!

'ello. when we were kids my sister had a rabbit called bobby that was always burrowing out of his run and wreaking havoc around the village. it's surprisingly easy to wreak havoc in our village. anyway - eventually he managed to disappear completely. shortly afterwards we went to portugal on holiday and dad ordered a piri piri rabbit stew which came with the skull in the middle of the plate. my sister cried for ages when my dad said "so that's where bobby went". doesn't look like there's many sights to see except the tunnel in the bund sightseeing tunnel. tunnel does look cool though.

It's almost unreal the way those mountains shoot up out of the ground, almost like something out of Lord of the Rings. Re: the chicken-head and claw supper, I think that the image of some of the food is one thing that's put me off ever going to mainland China, however, the rest of your blog makes me want to get on the first plane there. Arrrgggh. Dammit, what the Sauron is this Hobbit doing in Guildford when there are quite clearly far better places to be? NZ looks amazing. Of all the places you've been and told me about, for some reason NZ really strikes a chord and makes me want to pack a bungey rope and Tramp on over there. I've gotta say your blogs are bloody well written, especially for a lawyer Tom. You should've flogged 'em to the Times Travel supplement or something. Keep up the excellently illustrative blogs. I hope someone builds a giant statue of my head to stare peacfully and protectively over sheffield when I die. I guess it is pretty unlikely. Especially given the pension defecit. I kind of think about Easter Island in the sense of 'The nightmare before Christmas'. In order to get there you climb through an egg shaped door in a tree trunk in a spooky forest. The islanders being preoccupied (when not building giant stone heads) with the matter of how soon after Christmas to start running the old cadbury's cream egg adverts and other Easterial matters.

nerd advice - From: Torrents of pain in Torres del Paine
hello. [½ = (hold)ALT 0189 - You seem to do lots of things for something and a half hours - thought it might help. I'm wondering whether to hide my shame and delete that but I won't.] I'm beginning to suspect that you copy the first couple of paragraphs off the "wish you were here" website. Gloria Honeyford's lawyer's are no doubt preparing the suit for your return. I'm very jealous of all but the scary touching the void stuff which I am still a bit jealous of but mostly just scared by. Is vertiginous a real word? and I assume it's Tomos talking in clicks - I mean distancewise not literally talking in clicking noises like a big Tom shaped geiger counter. I won't say have a time because you already are and you've already used all the words. Cat said to say hello and wish you well. Take care. Dan

Attempt No. 2 - From: The Pisco turns sour
Dude and Dudette - I'll try not to hit the return key so quick this time - too much Denise's Heptathlon Challenge for me. Good to hear you ended up in the lap of another waitress, Tomos. Was she called Graham? Sounds like you are having a swell time and from the photos it appears that you are making good use of the extensive range of Black's apparell. You could offer to be in their catalogue, though I am guessing Gillette will not be giving you a call. Keep up the good work both. PS Have still not beaten 50 in a row and have developed RSI in the right wrist (ahem) from the game. I feel my slice and smash days are numbered. Safe travels. C

Your travelogues are stunningly atmospheric but I have to say that this one practically gave me vertigo! Again, sensational pictures and VERY entertaining writing. I always look forward my weekly dose of Tom & Snooz after I struggling to brave the vagaries of the Northern Line and the dizzy heights of our classroom on the top floor of CH. Keep 'em coming guys!

- From: The big nothing
Very much enjoying your travel reports. We are facing similarly 'challenging' circumstances on our holiday in Florida. Hurricane Wilma was predicted to pass close to our place (in the end it made landfall 5 miles south) so we decamped to Disney World to bask in the safety of Minnie's bosom. On our return (fortunately not much structural damage for us!) we had to do without air conditioning for one evening and yes, had to drink warm beer. All is well now, and we look forward to further reports, as I know my wife will never agree to sleep on a bus (or anything with less than five stars). Jacquie - Ahh... Susie, don't you just miss Nick's humour. I suppose He who plants his face into bollards becomes more sarcastic by the day!

It'll be the guinea pig - From: La Paz in the time of Amoeba
Shillers - your poor bstd. I had seriously bad bout of something nasty when I was there, the day after I ate a guinea pig. Watch out for those pesky varmits - they honk - I left Inca trails everywhere. I believe that in all likelihood you have accidentally digested something that was residing in your facial hair - like a llama. Yours and Snoozies sites rocks, so keep up your amusing entries. So to speak. Feel better. Cal.

Who'd of thought Boney M could be the sound track of so much pain and discomfort? - well me .. and most of the right thinking world i would hope. certainly looking well enough in the queen anne (is that what they're called?) glad to see the illness has been dealt with like diarrhoea off a duck's back. (had to cut and paste for spelling there.) what a happy amoeba. yet to be initiated into the cut and thrust of today's hare paced society. oh how i long for simpler times - languishing around in the warmth of a host stomach humming Boney M.
