how curious - From: A tail of three cities
How did the panda get in the tree? It kinda looks like he's not entirely sure himself. It's a funny thing conservation. Not content with ruining our own evolutionary development with western medicine we now have stringent laws to ensure that celibate, infanticidal, lazy idiot animals propagate their celibate, infanticidal, lazy idiot genes into a new generation! WHY? Who's the guy in the taoist temple who looks like the one who chose poorly in Indiana Jones and the last crusade. Most of all how come I've only just got this almost a month after seeing you in Battersea Park and a couple of days after the "come to our leaving drinks" email? Good work by the way. Dan

With my vertigo I don't think I'd want to do the Cloudy Tourist Road. Unless I'm feeling particularly cloudy, that is. Did you guys REALLY do that trek? And you REALLY, SERIOUSLY recommending it? 'Scuse me a moment while I go and lie down. The less vertiginous pictures are beautiful, National Geographic are running a photo comp at the moment which I suggest you enter, that's if you can decide which of your photos to use - they're all absolutely stunning. I'm going to love meeting up with you both when you're back but I'm sure going to miss your blogs!

Side salads - From: Lost in Transaltion
'ello. when we were kids my sister had a rabbit called bobby that was always burrowing out of his run and wreaking havoc around the village. it's surprisingly easy to wreak havoc in our village. anyway - eventually he managed to disappear completely. shortly afterwards we went to portugal on holiday and dad ordered a piri piri rabbit stew which came with the skull in the middle of the plate. my sister cried for ages when my dad said "so that's where bobby went". doesn't look like there's many sights to see except the tunnel in the bund sightseeing tunnel. tunnel does look cool though.

Brings Back lots of good memories! I can empathise so much- the people, the language, crossing the road, ordering food, booking trains, some of the loos are probably the most challenging places to visit, ! its quite an experience, Guilin looks lovely, Looking forward to hearing more, love Vivien x

Wow!! You went to Guilin!!! I've only ever seen it in pictures and have never met anyone who actually went there, you lucky people. It's almost unreal the way those mountains shoot up out of the ground, almost like something out of Lord of the Rings. Re: the chicken-head and claw supper, I think that the image of some of the food is one thing that's put me off ever going to mainland China, however, the rest of your blog makes me want to get on the first plane there. Great pictures, guys!xoxoxox

Jealous or what! - From: Ahh yeah, sweet as
Well, some people probably would be jealous of the sights you have seen. Not me! I'm telling myself that I am much better off here in London putting up with .... (have to be careful here). But truthfully, it sounds fantastic and even if the camera broke, as you say, the images and memories will be there forever. Love to both of you and Jez and Penny. Your other buddy here is almost packing. She's impossible after the France v England result yesterday! Finola

Hamsters are all from Siberia - From: Ahh yeah, sweet as
.. I'm a bit sketchy on the details but I'm pretty sure that their lineage can be accurately traced right back to 2 original hamsters (adam and eve) although I don't know where they came from.. probably space! Beautiful writing as always and just what I needed to settle into Monday morning after sunday night in the pub cellar running extension cables through puddles trying to get the juke box to work. Keep it up.

Jaguars ear-lobes - From: Ahh yeah, sweet as
Arrrgggh. Dammit, what the Sauron is this Hobbit doing in Guildford when there are quite clearly far better places to be? NZ looks amazing. Of all the places you've been and told me about, for some reason NZ really strikes a chord and makes me want to pack a bungey rope and Tramp on over there. I've gotta say your blogs are bloody well written, especially for a lawyer Tom. You should've flogged 'em to the Times Travel supplement or something. Keep up the excellently illustrative blogs. Enjoy the rest of NZ and warn them i'll be coming!
