Ok, I hadn't intended to publish blogs this often and maybe later on i'll chill it out a bit, but today was absolutely freaking fantastic and it needs to be posted. Gonna try to get caught up on some pictures here now that I'm in a good wifi zone; had a very unusal Christmas day and just finished a wonderful dinner in our hostel...well, still picking at it, it was big. We wandered around Xian which is expotenentially cooler and more interesting and welcoming than Shanghai, despite an incident (one of 3 so far) that i won't feel comfortable writing about until we are well outside of china. Merry Christmas!!!!! We are in Xian, home of the Terra Cotta Warriors We took a 16 hour train ride from shanghai yesterday and arrived at 8am this morning. The train ride, with the few hours of daylight we had, held some very inteesting views. Our first impression of what China is like outside of its most wealthy city. I'm not sure what I expected to see, but it wasn't what I saw. Boy I wish this internet connection was better; we've taken a lot of really interesting pictures that I can't post yet due to connection outages...but when they do go up (maybe not until we get to Hong Kong and can log onto my friend Neil's home network...in early Jan) then I believe you will find them, well, interesting. But Shanghai is really something....too late, world; China wins...Shanghai is, like, wow. Although I really wonder what the deal with the rampantly aggressivley cutting people off in line is? Hello! I started writing this yesterday on the boat when I ha no internet access; here is what I wrote; I'm on the ocean somewhere between Japan and China and it is cool. deep, no? word. we started The Trip on Tuesday night when we finished throwing out the last of our garbage, packed our backpacks and walked to Tokyo station for an overnight train to Nagoya; not the most comfortable sleep ever; no beds and the lights were on, but it was a fun experience; we spent 2 days in Kobe and Osaka, our old stomping grounds.
