Hola again from Cambodia! By the way, Happy Belated Anniversary to my parents! Cambodia has been recently called The Wild East, and it really feels like that. If you replace horses with Honda Scooters, the pace and style of life of suburban and rural Cambodia is similar to the Wild West. There are cows and chickens everywhere. People drive cars with Oxen down the street and they sell gasoline by the bottle out of 1 liter recycled Pepsi bottles in roadside stands. We've been in Siem Reap for like 8 days now and have spent 6 days exploring Angkor. Even though [View Full Entry]

When we were in Xian, riding our tandem bike around the city walls, we rode past several local Chinese people strolling along the wall. There was an old couple, looked to be n their 80’s . the old man was very tall and slender, looking kind of like Lurch from the Addam’s Famiy. He was wearing an old Chinese communist style green coat, buttoned high on the neck and we was walking a little ways in front of his wife, his hands clasped behind his back. His face was deeply, deeply lined and he looked very solemn and intense. But this [View Full Entry]

Yesterday may ave been the best day of the trip so far. we woke up quite early, for our standards, around 8am and decided to test our hotel's patio restaurant for breakfast. I had a lovely bacon omelot and Alicen had a Cambodian fried rice, egg breakfast that she really loved. then we hopped in our tuk-tuk, which we rented for the whole day, of to Angkor, about a 20 minute ride. the weather was perfect, upper 70's and clear sky. we bought the 7 day pass so we could have the flexibility to come and go as we please. yesterday [View Full Entry]

After my last blog, with ended with something about 'human skulls' I haven't had much access to internet but had some very interesting few days.. i wrote this the night after my last blog update, but couldn't publish it until now. "Cambodia is far more raw and intense than I was prepared for. We just got back from The Killing Fields and the Genocide Museum I expected some interesting history with some possibly disturbing imagery, but it was such a more direct and immediate experience. Unlike the Peace Memorial Museum in Hiroshima, this was not an expensive, well-kept, huge memorial ha [View Full Entry]

we made it to Phnom Penh, Cambodia yesterday afternoon....not the smoothest little flight from Bangkok due to high humidity causing some momentarily intense turbulence that freaked me out a bit...I did a bit of meditation/breathing/relaxation exercises in my sat, which Alicen later told me totally freaked out the girl sitting next to me as I was sitting straight up in my seat, eyes closed, breathing slowly and deeply....she probably thought I was about to puke, but it was very calming actually... Anyway, we're here and this place is pretty intense immediately. I guess I expected it to be s [View Full Entry]

We've made it to Thailand and are here for just a few more hours until we hop on a one hour flight over to Phnom Penh, Cambodia to begin our jungle-centric adventures through Southeast Asia. I just thought I'd share a bit of info about our last day in Hong Kong and The Worst Half Hour of Our Lives. If it's not atually the worst half hour of our lives, it certainly is a contender. Anyway, like I mentioned before, there is a large Buddha up on a mountain near Neil's house that we thought we'd go see before heading to [View Full Entry]

It's been a great few days in Hong Kong, though I'm a tad hungover today after a late night out in Macau yesterday. But I'm getting ahead of myself. Let me give you a quick rundown of our stay here before I go pack my suitcase and allow Neil and Yuko to enjoy the privacy of their home once again. We showed up on Sunday afternoon after the full day train ride and, like I've mentioned, immediately enjoyed the sunny weather. We spent Monday on Kowloon shopping for cheap electronics and being tempted by all the other cheap goodies in the [View Full Entry]

Okay, here's what happened; About a week ago we already filled up the hard drive on my computer with the laqrge amount of picutres and videos taken so far....we have only posted a small portion of the pics we've taken....when we get back and if you have the inclination and several hours, let us know and we'll be happy to show you them all ;) Anyway, for the last week or so we haven't been able to upload any pictures onto the computer and they've just been slowly filling up our camera memory cards. So yesterday we set out on a [View Full Entry]

Hola, we've left the winter behind! 2 days ago we were skating across a frozen lake in Beijing. Yesterday afternoon we boarded the train in Beijing and entered our very cool, private train car It had 2 bunk beds, an arm chair, a table, very large picture window, and a private bathroom with a western style toilet Up until this point every train we had been on in China had an eastern style toilet, one to be shared by about 40 people....if you haven't been to Asia and are unsure what an eastern style toilet is; I won't get into specifics [View Full Entry]

Hello and Happy New Year to all y'all!!! We like our little computer, it is neat and enjoyable to type on, though sometimes slightly difficult due to it's small size, which results in some spelling and grammatical errors which i am too lazy to correct before publishing. word. we love Beijing it is a great, lovely, wonderful type of city and we are very glad to have been here this week. we could easily spend another week here, or just move here someday, but we have a flight we have to catch from hong kong to Bangkok on the 8th and [View Full Entry]
