Ryan and Abby are full-time Youth With A Mission (YWAM) staff actively pursuing the dream God has called them to of missions aviation. Ryan is currently helping start and establish YWAM's first ever Flight Training Academy (YAFTA) while himself studying to become a missionary pilot. Abby is the director of Creative Arts and Community Development for YWAM Aviation. Ryan and Abby met in YWAM during their Discipleship Training School (DTS) in 2005, but God began to move in their lives long before then.
Ryan was raised in a Christ centered home but began to take God seriously in his own life during his teenage years. He has wanted to be a pilot for as long as he can remember but it was a missions trip his junior year of high school when God placed a desire in him for worldwide missionary service. Combining the two dreams, Ryan knows God has placed a specific call on his life to fill the need for missionary aviators. As a missionary pilot, Ryan will serve by flying into places of this world almost unreachable by any other means of transportation sharing the Gospel for perhaps the first time and providing access for medical and practical needs to be met.
Abby was also blessed with a rich Jesus-followers heritage and accepted Christ at the age of 3. God first spoke to her about being a missionary at the age of 11, when someone felt led to pray for her at church. At 15, she lived with YWAM missionaries for a month in France and knew she wanted to do a DTS immediately following high school. God placed his mark on her early in life, healing her from an eating disorder in high school and guiding her heart continually towards missions despite other pressures throughout her teenage years. Jesus reveals himself most intimately as a Lover to Abby and she hopes to share this piece of God's heart with other women around the world.
Together, God has led them through numerous missions experiences such as a bike trip across the US as well as service in Mississippi, Guatemala, and most recently, Colorado. They feel privileged that their first ministry is to be Jesus to each other and are passionate about telling and hearing stories of what God is doing in people's lives.
