New Zealand Part 2

The second half of my trip in new zealand started with a ferry between the two which had some stunning views. Our first stop down the coast was in Abel Tasmin national park. I did a sky dive here which was absolutely unreal. I was last to go so having seen all the other groups do it my nerves were going a little. Once you get in the plane and you are strapped to you partner you lose all control. T

New Zealand part 1

It has been a while since my last entry but that is becasue I have been s busy I have hardly had a chance. Anyway I started by heading north out of auckland and up to bay of islands. I did a really cool canoe trip up there around the islands. We stopped in a shallow part and jumped out and picked a bunch of pippis small mussels out of the sand before canoeing to one of the islands and steaming t

I have finished my time is australia now so will update you all on what happened in my final week and a half. The next stop down the coast was fraser island which is the worlds largest sand island. It is an amazing place. I did a tour where you went round in a big bus through tranks all over the island. I did 3 days there. The first day we went to a pretty cool lake where we relaxed in the sun and

Australia Part 1

Time for an update on australia so far. I am just over halfway through my time here and it has been amazing. I started up north in cairns. On my first night there I was sharing a room with a guy from Glasgow and eventually ended up on a night out with 5 scottish guys. Just like home apart from being out in shorts. Cairns is a really chilled place and we had a good night out. There was a barbeque o

I have finished my 10 days in Japan and had an amazing experience. The first highlight of my trip was the day I spent exploring Tokyo city. I went to the tjsuki fish market which is the worlds largest fish market. It was rediculous like a crazy asda but only sellinng fish. If you could think of a type of fish you would be almost garaunteed to find it there and if you made a fish up you would prob

Time for an update

It has been a while since I last updated so this could be a long update. I have been very busy recently. The football in Pisac has been better. Nico and I have been put in charge of a group of about 10 and have been allowed to do what ever we wanted pretty much which has much more fun. We try to do some new works they dont normally do which they seem to quite enjoy. Football in Calca and Cusco

one month in Peru

I have now been in Peru for just over 1 month now. There are only 3 volunteers in Pisac now almost of all of them have gone home for christmas. Over the last couple of weeks I have been coaching more in Calca and Cusco than in Pisac which I prefer because I get to coach more independently. The kids are not as good but I find them more fun. I also di a session with some of the older players 1617

Fun times

I had my first training session in Calca which is about 30 minutes by bus from pisac. It was one of my favourite sessions so far despite the children having the attention spans of a gold fish. I suppose Ill let them off though seeing as they were only 5 and 6. Anyway me and Nico were in charge of 10 kids and we organised a few dribbling shooting and passing drills with various levels of succe

Settling in

The last few days have been good. Met some other volunteers. On Friday I went to Cusco to coach there. The kids there are not as talented but they are probably more fun. I worked with the kids aged 46 approximately. I helped with a number of drillsgames that they seemed to enjoy. They also didnt seem to care or notice that my Spanish was not great and just talked randomly. Really enjoyed it

It is nice to be finally blogging from Peru It was a very long journey but I did eventually make it. My flights all went to plan which was very nice although the zip of my rucksack did break in madrid meaning I had to carry it like a football for the rest of the trip. A bit of a faff but oh well. When I did get to Cusco we drove to Urumbamba to drop of a different volunteer which I thick is furth
