Since this is my final entry from my journey in Tanzania, I feel it necessary to apologize to those who thought I would be publishing more entries. This obviously did not happen as I stand at a current seven completed. Writing just was not in the cards for me. I barely wrote in my journal which is strange looking back on it. I guess it was a combination of teaching, and living my experience rather than writing about it. I believe that I will have more to say when the dust has settled. Maybe not. I have felt more inspired in [View Full Entry]

This past Friday, we put together a girl's football match between the preform girls (the class I teach the most) and the form 1 girls. Well, what a showdown it was. The competitive side of me came out in full force although I know absolutely nothing about coaching soccer but unfortunately, the preform girls lost in a sudden death shootout. It was overwhelming to see how the girls responded to the excitement of the game and having their peers watch them, especially the boys. I was blown away by the boy's excitement and positivity in cheering on their girl counterparts. School [View Full Entry]

This is such a long overdue blog post, its incredible! I am sorry for the lapse in time for anyone who actually reads this, but I have been wheeling and dealing with school, travel and much else! I am so in love with this country and everything that I am doing. Without a doubt, I know that I am exactly where I am supposed to be. The students are amazing and I have a blast teaching them. They think Im crazy because I just go in every morning and start dancing and laughing with them and I know they just look [View Full Entry]

So I am sitting here in the Arusha internet cafe with ten minutes left on my account. I had a beautifully written entry all typed up on my laptop and then of course forgot to bring it, so this one will have to do. Everything is going very well. The students are amazing! It was quite entertaining pronouncing all their names on Monday, the most challenging one being L'Tongchamwaki. I still don't think he understands me when I say his name class, but I make sure to enunciate the waki really clearly! I am constantly dirty, no change there and I [View Full Entry]

So I had a wonderful blog entry all typed and ready to post in the Amsterdam airport, only to have the connection fail just as I was about to post it! Great. I was commenting on my long ass flight that seriously showed the worse movies with the only highlight being Ryan Reynolds. I also finally realized the outfit I was wearing while in route and seriously have to question my early morning fashion sense. I had two shades of green on, how did Dianey let me leave the house looking like that? Devil Wears Prada I think not. At least [View Full Entry]

It is now 10 days until I depart on my four month teaching journey to Tanzania. I feel ready and excited but also nervous and anxious. This experience is definitely new territory, but I feel extremely grateful that I get to go and teach in this capacity. I'm really looking forward to the party coming up this weekend at my parent's house with all of our family and friends. I wish that more of my college and Seattle friends could be in attendance, but it will be great to see everyone who will be there. Everyone invited will hear more about [View Full Entry]
