| 26th June 2009 mary ely | Lindsey's travels - From: Early Pilgrimage Churches Papa and I check daily to hear of your travels and classes. I just knew you would adore the whole thing and I am so thrilled you are there. I remember going to the Catacombs in 1962 - it was an eerie adventure then , and I recall it was darned cold down there! Have you ever seen so many churches in your life? Just remember those artisans spent their entire lives building one of those - it is mind boggling. We are fine, and busy going from house to house. I am still showing our trip pictures to interested friends - it helps to keep the whole memory alive. Papa invited me to attend the graduation ceremony at Lk WA Tech college. He looked very handsome in his robes, and it was such a nice occasion. Many of those graduates have heart warming stories to tell of sacrifices made to attend and get a degree. (single parents, handicapped etc). All else is fine - next week we will be on Whidbey for the 4th of July celebration. I even bought my own crab pot so your Uncle Chris can make me look good when he pulls all those yummy crabs out of the water for all to enjoy. We'll be thinking of you - hope you will be in Florence or Chinque Terra. In Florence try and get to the leather market. Anyone there can tell you where it is. Great bargains. I LOVE the red wallet I bought there and a wonderful purse as well. Work hard, have fun, stay safe. Love, Mary (and Papa) |
