On Tuesday we landed near a tin shed in the south of France also known as the Bergerac airport! Mum and dad's friend from college, Lynne picked us up and then drove us to their huge farmouse where we would stay for three nights. When we arrived we were met by her children Zenya, Devlyn and Sebastyn. They showed us around the house (I slept in the loft which was cool) as well as their many barns and sheds. The next morning we went to a nearby village where we got baguettes. In the afternoon we drove to Monflanquin, which was a typical village frm this area with cobblestone steets, and quaint shps and houses. It was a 1 hour drive when we got there -it was boiling. we had a look around the town before ... read more

Wednesday night was always going to be a big night and it was! Haggis Harry, Scottish Sam, and I Tartan Tom started it off with a performance we've been practising. I was first and I did some juggling. Next was Harry who did devil sticks which he did in the production. Sam did some magical tricks which he learned from a busker we saw in Dam square, Amsterdam. For our finale we sang a scottish version of 'give me a home among the gum trees' which dad wrote. We had a great time. After that we went down to the restaurant to have some drinks and wait for the piper. Gramps ordered a piper to play for dinner because he loves the bagpipes. The piper was very cool and dressed in full piper uniform. He piped ... read more

Tuesday was Gran’s Birthday and we went to Loch Ness. It was a 2 ½ hour drive said to be one of the 5 best drives in the world. It went through past really high mountains and lots of lochs. When we arrived at Loch Ness we hopped on a cruise that would take us through the loch. We learned that Loch Ness holds more water than all the other water in Great Brittan put together! We took a picture of Nessie and enjoyed watching the sonar radar for him. We also got to see a different kind of loch. This kind of loch moves boats up a hill by filling up different parts of the loch. It was another great day in Scotland. By Tom ... read more

On Monday we went to Glasgow. Glasgow is the next biggest city to Edinburgh and where Mum did a talk. We drove to Stirling then took a train to Glasgow. From the station Mum took a taxi to Glasgow University and Dad Harry Sam and I went to the tourist info to see what we should do. The tourist info Man suggested we go to some of the museums so that’s what we did. We caught the subway which was really weird. The trains top was curved and low and all the seats were on the side of the train. The First museum we went to was great. When you walked in it was just like out of Night at the museum. It was really good and had a wide variety of facts on animals, Scottish ... read more

On Friday we left here to go to Edinburgh where we would be staying for a couple of days. After meeting Auntie Kay and Alex, we all set off for Edinburgh Castle. The first thing we did was look up the war memorial books. We were pleasantly surprised by the amount of Veitch’s there were - including a Thomas Veitch! We also went down to the dungeons where they used to keep the prisoners. As well as that we enjoyed seeing Mons Meg which is one of the largest cannons in the world and can shoot cannon balls up to 2 miles! The following morning we went to the 3D Loch Ness experience. It was a 3D documentary on whether Nessie is real or not. It was great. After lunch we went to see a statue ... read more

Last week we set off from Amsterdam to go to Scotland. We landed in Edinburgh then received our hire car and from they’re we dove for 1 ½ hours to get to St Fillans where we are staying. St Fillans is a tiny town right in the middle of Scotland situated on a loch surrounded by large mountains. When we arrived here we were met Gran and Gramps at our hotel. There we had supper and Gran and Gramps showed us around our lodge which included telling us that to keep the electricity going we had to put a pound in the machine every so often! The next day Gran and Gramps offered to show us some of the nearby towns where we could get supplies (the only shop in the whole of St Fillans is ... read more

On Tuesday night Gran and Gramps arrived in Amsterdam! Dad, Harry, Sam and I left early to meet them at their hotel. There we surprised them and gave them directions to get to our place for dinner. It was really cool because when we rode home we were going about the same speed as the tram so we could wave to them. Once we got back we had a dinner that we bought from the market and we showed them around. Finally for desert we had some of the 117 poffertjes that we made. The next day it was Dad's birthday. In the morning we went to Alkmaar which is a town famous for its cheese markets. We had lunch in a bakery where we ate Dutch apple pie our own room. In the afternoon Gramps, ... read more

Yesterday Dad, Harry, Sam and I went to Utrecht. Once off the train we went to the information desk. There the man suggested we go to the train museum. After a bus, getting lost and a long walk we finally got there. Once we were there we found out that all the museums were gesloten* on Mondays! Next we decided to walk to the centre of town. There we found the 'Dom' which is a large tower. After we saw that we looked around and saw a big building and we wondered what it was. We went inside and we found the answer. Apparently the Dom and the building used to be joined together to form a church. What happened was that a hurricane swept threw the middle of the church and that part was destroyed. ... read more

On Sunday we hired a car to go to Texel. Texel is the largest island in the north of the Netherlands and everyone at mums work said we had to go there! We drove to a place called Den Hellder and from there caught a ferry to Texel. It took about one and a half hours in all and the ferry only took about 15mins, so it was quite a small trip. Once on the island we decided to go to the beach. Though the blue sky looked promising the weather was horrible. When we hopped out of the car were almost blown away by the wind and it was freezing. On the beach we were amazed by the amount of foam that was washed up from the waves. As well as that the kite surfers ... read more

We have been enjoying just wondering 'round Amsterdam these past few days. The bikes have been great. It is truly the best way to get around Amsterdam and I understand why they're so popular. We have spent almost the whole day today in the market. It has got really cold now and everybody has these 'fur jackets". Harrison really likes them and was very excited to buy one today! The library in Amsterdam is Amazing. it has seven stories and is ultra modern. In the kids section they have these circle shaped book shelves with dutch on the inside and english on the outside which is really helpfull. As well as that they have a cafe on the top floor which has the food layed out in front of you so if you wanted a pizza ... read more
