Sunset
We arrived just in time for the sunset on Mallipo Beach.
Taeanhaean National Park was the location of the first Ladies Camping Trip of the '07-'08 school year! Japans' Typhoon Fitow tried to make us change our plans, as the days leading up to the weekend were wet and rainy and the forecast called for more rain over the weekend. We went ahead anyway, and we were blessed with absolutely beautiful weather - by far the nicest weather we have had since we arrived in Korea! You can check out the park at http://english.knps.or.kr/knps_eng/parks/park_01_18.asp. [View Full Entry]

Four Seasons view
Our view from our beautiful room at the Four Seasons hotel. I don't know if we'll be able to stay in a Four Seasons again any time soon!
As much as we were ready for another adventure, we were sad to leave Egypt. Egypt will always be a special place for us - our first 3 years of marriage, our first "real" overseas positions, our first taste of living in a completely unique environment. We wouldn't trade our time in Egypt for anything! We had one last hoorah in Cairo, where we spent our third (yes, third!) wedding anniversary, before before coming back to Maryland for the rest of the summer. [View Full Entry]

Touring Turkey, too Middle East » Turkey » Istanbul By TheKeiths April 3rd 2007 Alana and Bryan KeithWith the first week of spring break and the NESA teacher's conference behind us, we headed to one of the most interesting cities we've been - Istanbul. Not quite European, not quite Middle Eastern, just a wonderful combination of the two. Tulips in bloom, fresh fish galore (caught with no hooks), beautiful sights, and colorful bazaars awaited us in this fun and vibrant city. [View Full Entry]

Bryan was a teacher presenter, and the school paid for our hotel stay at the Intercontinental in return. Not a bad trade - 1 hour presenting for $800 in hotel bills! We spent some off-time at the Acropolis and the Plaka with some new (and old) friends, and finished off the weekend with a Gala dinner before heading to [View Full Entry]

Meeting Macedonia Europe » Macedonia FYR » Skopje By TheKeiths March 28th 2007 Alana and Bryan Keith After yet another overnight, “sleepless” train to Thessaloniki and a 5-hour train ride through the Macedonian countryside, we finally arrived in Skopje, the capital city. Macedonia is a relatively new country, having just received its independence from Yugoslavia in 1992. The old communist grasp could still be felt throughout the city, as there was an overall heaviness in the air - lots of gray buildings, gray skies, gray clothes, gray faces. But the dogs were friendly, and we enjoyed our brief visit to Skopje. On the second [View Full Entry]
