So after a 12 hour up river speedboat journey where the boat was packed and I had an isle seat with chance of pics... I arrived in Iquitos to a SWARM of taxi drivers who would not leave me alone lol, all I wanted was a Cig and stand for 5 minutes! Nevertheless I picked one guy who would not let me out of his sight and we hopped in his motored rickshaw and headed to an ATM then to the hostel ( The Flying Dog ). It is very cheap to take taxi's here and the town looked like it died maybe 150 years ago it was a boom town, but now it is pretty dead. I got to the hostel and immediately felt good vibes, the manager Marcel is a cool guy who will ... read more

Sorry for the delay in blogs as after I left Bogota my hard drive decided to crash!!! Luckily I backed up everything on my external hard drive, anyways Let me give you some insight on Leticia and the Tri-Borders region since there was not much info on here when I looked for certain things...Hope the info helps.. I arrived mid afternoon via Bogota to some nice heat and humidity which was REALLY great after bogota!! You have to pay a 19,000 "tax" when you arrive in the baggage claim to all foreigners which isnt bad it's around $10 or so. So I finally get my bag from the belt and head out to catch a cab, I remember after booking Hostel Mahatu that the owner said don't pay more than 10,000 which was good info as ... read more

Well after a 10 Hour combined flight and quite of Bit of turbulance about 30 minutes out of Bogota, which I honestly thought the wings were going to rip off and I was going to spiral in an unconscious state jeans soiled from both ends to my death, I made it just after 12am. Customs was a breeze and the ONLY hiccup would have to be AeroMexo cutting 2 of the 3 TSA locks off my bag along with the rings on the zippers but I didnt see anything missing which I'll probably realize a month down the road like I did when they took my camera out of my bag from Mexico to Costa Rica, but it is what it is I guess no sense in crying about it. Anyways I booked a Hostel I ... read more

Well...Well...Well, It's been a while since I posted anything and wanted to just update those who are following me on things... I was in Santo Domingo working for a company in the U.S., But I was contacted by my old supervisor via facebook ( lol ) that the position I had been laid off from in 2009 was re opening ( This was in July of this year ) so I was very very low on money from the amazing time I was away traveling and decided to go back to Houston and get my old job back, at least for 6 months or so and save back up, get my TEFL and then hopefully leave for good as I cannot stand what this country has become and plus I absolutely LOVE traveling seeing all the ... read more

This has been a long years wait to come back here, this time on the southside of the island! I managed to catch my flight on time from San Jose despite my driver getting into an accident on the way to get me in the morning, I hopped in a cab and to the Airport I went. I was a little worried that the "new" law had kicked in for expired visas, but my friends Debb and Ryan just crossed over by land to Nicaragua and Ryan told me not even a second look as he was over by a month, I would be over almost 2 and at the airport....So I get out of the cab, spark up a kool and look one last time at the Mountains surrounding San Jose I head in to ... read more

Hey again everyone! Well I flew into Torreon from Guatemala city at dawn, it's a desert city in the North, a VERY small airport, I had already got stamped in Mexico City so I grabbed my bag and headed to the exit, I was met by Faviola my friend as I forgot I told her when my plane landed she rememebered and surprised me lol, She brought me to the hotel I booked for 2 nights so I could drop off my shit and head out with her to a party her fellow teachers were having. We arrived and she introduced me to everyone we grabbed some beers and chatted as the music pounded. I mentioned I hadn't eaten yet and was kinda hungry she brought me to the best Al Pastor restaurants in all the ... read more

So..... I was stying at El Abergue Hostel in Leon, when I saw they had an offer to go to Guatemala City by bus for $30 I was all over that as I was headed north to see a friend in Torreon Mexico, I asked for info about the bus and was given all I could handle by the gorgeous receptionist Dalia....I proceeded to pay the $30 and she wrote me up a ticket for the bus.. Now I was under the impression that it was a nice bus like that of Tica or Nica Bus, even on the ticket it showed a luxory liner lol, but as I was about to find out everything is not always what it seems lol....The taxi picked me up around 10am I said goodbyes to the staff as they ... read more

I continued my journey North from Granada to Leon, If there's one thing I LOVE about Central America is how really easy it is to get around, I woke up 2 days ago in Granada wondering how the fuck I was gonna get to Leon...I decided to pack up and just go get the shuttle bus to Managua, Cost was around 100 Cordoba for a nice 1 hour to 1.5 hour ride and not on a school bus so that was a treat!!! Anyway, I got on the shuttle got my seat and slapped on the Ipod, the scenery of this Country is amazing, Dry and Arid to blazing hot to Cold in the North lands ( Mountains ) it's truly beautiful also around Managua the mountain range just surrounds the city and dominates the ... read more
