Our shift to the other side of the world.....
Flying out on February 17th 2008 to start a whole new life in sunny Perth - with a nice holiday in Dubai for a week first ;-)
Will keep all our friends and family up to date with what we are doing, houses we have looked at to rent and buy and eventually settle down.. and will also give us a chance to let all our collegues see what they could be enjoying!
Even more important, this will help us keep in touch with the kids, Carli, Thomas & Poppie who are staying back in the UK, they can even vote on the houses we are looking at buying so that they are completley happy when they all come out to stay for a couple of months this year!!
Hello all... Ang here with an update .. :-) I cant believe its nearly 5 years since we moved out here to Perth.. and i cant believe its 3 years since i updated the blog! So much has happened but I guess that most of you are on facebook as our friends and know what we have been doing (working, working and growing the farm) however, I did promise a few people that I would do a full update of our recent travels along with photos and its much easier here than on FB..! So, after 4 years of house renovations, well nearly rebuilds rather than reno's and finally completing the 120 sqM of decking (2 years of hard work!) we eventually planned our long awaited trip away, booked 3 weeks off work, the house &

Hope that all of you are well, wrapping up nice & warm for the cold winter months over there in good old UK..? It seems that everyone we speak to over there has a cold or is just fed up with the rain, do we miss it? Mmmm.. It was officially the 1st day of summer on December 1st over here and we have already been in the high 20 degree band for the majority of the springtime so the tan is already starting.. its going to be a lurvly 36 degree upwards this weekend.. the pool is full and there are a few beers in the fridge

In that short space of time we have; Gone through a strict selection criteria for a house and subsequently entered into a rather large mortgage.....bought a car, exchanged the car, renovated more than 1/2 of the house, including building an interior wall and knocking down another 3..bought a 2nd car, completely changed the landscape of our land, raised 2 delinquent dogs, bought and sheared 2 alpaca, gone from owning 3 goats to just the 1 rather grumpy billy, then selected a further 6 (pregnant) angora goats, purchased a new pet - details to follow below……had a Christmas in the sun, 2 Easters, seen the kids more than we use to when we were
... read moreHello all! Christmas & New year... Our first Christmas in Oz was 'different' .. No snow, no cold nights by the fire, no carol singers.. but my goodness it was good!!! Hot days, warm evenings, we even bought a 8ft x 4ft inflatable pool to dip in and out of as a break from the heat - much cheaper than the olympic size pool we are planning on putting in later this year but just as effective when your out digging in 40 degrees and in need of a dip! We took the dogs down t the dog beach for a couple of hours on Christmas morning, it was like taking 2 disruptive children on a day out.. they ran around chasing the other dogs, barking at the 'nice' people out enjoying a morning sandy stroll
... read moreHello all....! First things first........ Its Christmas time, cold? snow? dreary days and dark nights? Not..!!! Its on average 30 Degrees, warm, sunny, the sun starts to set around 8pm, and all we can hear are the birds singing and the frogs croaking... what a way to build up to Christmas!! Must admit, Christmas tme is not the same here as back in UK, its hard to get into 'the festive spirit' when its so warm!! We have been as busy as ever with the house and land, even bought a ride on mower as it was getting too hot and hard to cut the grass with the 'push' petrol model..so much easier! I managed to get Oggy to 'Global Gathering' earlier this month... a full day nearly of dance music, finishing off with Mark Ronson..

We have been up to allsorts of adventures since late August... we took a short break from doing the house up and spent a bit of 'us' time. El Cabello - Rodeo Cowboy hats n boots were a must...and this day was just great fun ...mainly because of the fact that Ang had got CJ very worried indeed.... The rodeo was open to entrants (for a fee and who were registered) who wanted to ride either a large bull or bareback horse, starting from novice class through to advanced, with a $ prize money and on the web page was an entrance application form. Yes, Ang had 'doctored' the form removing

Been busy working and plastering, painting the house etc. Theatre room now almost complete with projector and 92" screen, waiting on purchasing the reclining leather chairs to finish off. Lights almost all replaced with down lighters throughout. Games room done. Bedrooms skimmed and painted... Lounge plastered and skimmed... Floors to purschase next and a new kitchen,,, then on to the outside. All in all great progress over the past 3 months. Oggy picks up the digger tomorrow to start some bits in readiness for the alpacas outside, to drill the fence posts holes and start the driveways. The rain has been fairly often throughout the winter months but still reaches

The weather has turned and we have had to grade down the sun screen to a lower factor as the hot days of 35 degrees are a distant memory and the temperature has cooled down, some days to as much as a somewhat chilly 22 degrees.... Don’t get us wrong, the mornings up in the hills are chilly and we have had a few days of rain over the past few weeks, some of the showers lasting for all of a couple of hours. It is more than welcome as the air is so fresh after a good downpour and our water tank at the new house is filling up nicely.

On Good Friday we set off early morning on our way to Mandurah, in search of the dolphins that are known to inhabit the quays and are of a friendly and inquisitive in nature. AKA tourist hunters.. Mandurah is approx an hour south of Perth, straight down the freeway. The train line has only recently been introduced down as far as Mandurah, due to the demand to
