We left Glacier National Park on Thursday morning and went north into Alberta, Canada. We traveled about 5 hours and entered Banff National Park. We stayed at Fairmont Chateau, Lake Louise which was awesome! The hotel is nested in between beautiful mountains, which had glaciers on them and sits right on Lake Louise. Caroline got her first horse ride by herself! Over the last two weeks, we’ve tried multiple times to take Caroline on a horse ride and this was our last chance. When we walked up to the stables at the Fairmont and they said that you had to be 8 years old (Caroline is 5). The wrangler looked at Caroline and said “but you look big enough”. She was so excited!!!! She did a great job with her horse named Kidd and I’m sure ... read more

After having a blast at the family reunion, we left Flat Head Lake on Monday and headed towards Glacier National Park in northern Montana with Bird and Bob and the Tabor family (Patty's sister). We traveled on the "highway to the sun" (which just opened a few weeks ago because of snow) through the park and we stopped at Logan Pass for a hike. The hike was 90% on the snow and we saw some great wildlife (see pics). We spent the last three nights at Many Glacier Hotel in the heart of Glacier National park. The hotel is only open three months a year (June through August) and it is where Stephen King got the idea for the movie "The Shining". It was built in the early 1900s and not much has changed with the ... read more

What a reunion! You can tell by the video that these people know how to party! We have had a blast over the past two days with Patty's mom's family (the Liebhardts). It the first time in a long time that the 11 first cousins and all their kids were all together. "Big Sky" dave hosted on his awesome house on Flat Head Lake in MT. He had all of the toys (boat, wave runner, skis, tubes). There was plenty to drink and eat and we had many laughs. Thanks to Dave and his family for hosting such a great family reunion. On to Glacier National Park.... read more

We reach the RV destination! On Wednesday, we made the 11 hour trek out of Yellowstone National Park to Clarkston, WA. (remind us to tell you about the “shower incident” when we return). On the trip, we went through Montana, Idaho and into Washington. We had a great time that evening at Steve (Patty’s 1st cousin) and Stephanie Heflin’s house in Clarkston, where we had cold Margaritas and great fajitas waiting for us. We had a great evening on their deck and under the stars. Our kids had a great time playing with Steve and Stephanie’s kids - Rhett, Logan and Lindsey. On Thursday morning, we left Clarkston and went 1 hour up the road Moscow, Idaho to see another of Patty’s 1st cousin’s family - Beth and Greg Papineau. We spent the day with them ... read more

Wyoming is such a beautiful state! We entered into Yellowstone National Park from the east entrance on Monday morning and climbed up the mountain to our next destination of Bay Bridge campground right on Yellowstone Lake. The views were awesome. You start to get numb to the fact that snow capped mountains are always in view. It took most of the day to get to our site, so we did some hiking and saw deer and other wildlife. The night was capped off with “can you guess this tune” by beating a cadence on the picnic table with drumsticks while Patty and Jeff had some “Hey Mombo” sultry red wine with our steaks on the fire to cap off the night. Tuesday we woke up and took a step into the woods and came upon a ... read more

What a day! We left Al's Oasis in South Dakota on the Missouri River early (while the kids were sleeping). There was too much goose poop in the above ground pool for the kids to swim anyways! The landscape has changed so much from state to state and it has been very interesting. We stopped at an overlook to view the Badlands and the kids were playing in a field. Caroline asked me to come over to see a cactus and 2 feet behind the cactus was a rattlesnake! We watched it go down into its and we took off. We stopped to see Mt. Rushmore and it was very impressive! The black hills were beutiful and it only got better from there. We continued into Wyoming and watched far off storms from the RV and ... read more

Day 2 started with the crapper full and we have a lovely picture of Jeff clearing out the problem. After several minutes reading the manual to make sure it would work in the right direction, everything cleared out. We drove from Iowa to South Dakota and I'm not sure what everyone is talking about when they say there is a shortage of corn. South Dakota is just like they said - hot, dry, windy, and flat. We are staying on the Missouri River (kind of) here at Al's Oasis. Mitch said he liked where we stayed last night better. I'm sure it will be an early morning and we will get the heck out of dodge. On to Crazy Woman Campground, Wyoming tomorrow. Love, The Wolvertons... read more

Well here we are in Iowa - Day 1. We made the trip in 8 hours with one stop at the gas station where Jeff had to pay twice because it cuts you off after a certain amount of money. Great timing for an RV trip. The pictures are of us at our house, the Mississippi River, Jeff driving, Patricia driving, Ryan reading in a witch hat (don't ask), Caroline sleeping, Mitch sleeping and Jeff and the kids here in Iowa. Of course we are staying at a lake that "isn't anything as nice as Norris Lake". The only mishap was when the milk came flying out of the refridgerator because someone didn't close it enough - no one has stepped up on that one. Tomorrow we are off to Mitchell, South Dakota. Hope everyone is ... read more
