Europe » United Kingdom » England » Greater London » London City May 14th 2010

Early flight leaving Cork..I was sad to leave Ireland. Arrived at Gatwick London Airport got our luggage and headed to the express train to our hotel. As soon as we get off the train it's a madness, our hotel is two blocks from the train station..so we are standing at the corner staring at the map trying to figure out which way to go. A nice British gentleman helps us. We check in...it's a nice hotel, on a main road in London but not nearly what we had in Ireland. We were spoiled there! We have to pay for internet service, which we decide to do since it's our only form of communication with home. And we have two single beds! LOL! I just shove them together...since that's what they'll do if i call down to ... read more

Europe » Ireland » County Cork » Blarney May 12th 2010

This morning we woke up to get on the road for our last day in Ireland :( The weather has been absolutely gorgeous..sunshine every single day. Had breakfast and headed to Blarney...it was another day of roundabouts for Jared. Blarney is a cute little village, our first stop was the famous Blarney Castle..absolutely gorgeous, hard to believe that someone really lived in it. Walking up to the stone were 100 very small rock steps, i bet they were only 6in wide and straight up spiraling. I was glad the line wasnt long to kiss the stone, I was impatient seeing as this is something Ive been waiting to do. You really have to hang your head down to kiss the stone, it's at the bottome of the rock wall. After Jared and I kissed, we walked ... read more

Europe » Ireland » County Kerry » Killarney May 11th 2010

Got up early to leave Lahinch and headed down to the beach...it was gorgeous! It was nice to put my toes in the sand and feel the Atlantic ocean, it was SO cold...my toes turned pink. Drove to Killarney took about 2hr and Jared went through like 10 roundabouts, he's becoming a pro at driving, not sure how he'll do when we get back home. WATCH OUT! ;p Our hotel Killarney Royal was nice, we had a doorbell..and the only hotel so far that has a real key. Checked in and went waundering Killarney, lots of little shops, bought some gifts and had lunch at a sandwich shop. Came back to the hotel, I needed a quick nap..I've been waking up at 530am. After mynap went back out and looked for a place to have dinner. ... read more

We woke up early this a.m, had a wake up call set for 7 so we could get up shower, breakfast and finish packing before the rental car was delivered at 9am. Turned the tv on and it was 530AM! My body is SO screwy, when i think of the time it is at home i croak! This morning we decided to try a different breakfast we did the buffet. I had Irish cheese, poached egg, fruit and a croissant Jared isnt loving the food... Once our car was here we hit the road. Jared did fantastic driving...for a long time it was motorway, I was wondering if I was ever going to get to see the countryside. I saw a sign for Limerick and told Jared hop off the motorway I remember something in our ... read more

Europe » Ireland » County Dublin » Dublin May 9th 2010

Sunday May 9 2010....Happy Mother's Day from Ireland! We had our first taste of an Irish Breakfast...it was really good! I wasnt brave enough to try the black/white pudding...I smelled it and it smelled peppery. We had scrambled eggs, bacon which is really more like ham, sausage link but not nearly has greasy as sausage at home. Grilled tomato, mushrooms and some grilled potato bread. Jared wouldnt let me take a picture because people were sitting right next to us. After breakfast we walked Grafton St...didn't buy a single thing! We did alot of walking to St. Patrick's Cathedral...absolutely amazing. Walked by Christ's Cathedral and Dublin Castle. The Guinness Brewery was a neat expierence. And the Gravity Bar was beautiful. It's the highest point in Dublin. We skyped with both of our parents from there. For ... read more

Well we made it! We were on pins and needles all week even when we arrived at Philly, we just never felt 100% that the plane was going to take off. Our connecting flight in Philly was a little nerve wracking, that airport is huge! We had to take a shuttle from the gate we landed to our departing gate to Dublin. It was a matter of min. that we got to the gate that they started boarding. The plane food was AWFUL...we barely slept, I think I got about two hours. Feel asleep around 11pm and woke up to the sun coming up and it was only like 1am back home. We had some amazing views from the plane. We had to go up over Greenland and Iceland to dodge the ash cloud. The views ... read more
