| 31st August 2008 Steve White | Thanks! - From: Home Again Hey Nat and Tim, As usual, I read your update on Guatemalan time, weeks after it was posted. Thanks for filling us in on Nat (and the chuchos). Sorry to hear that Nat is still a bit under the weather. I just went through a similar thing here. I went for tests with the Docs--Nothing! Months of intestinal pain, constant diarrhea, low energy, etc and they couldn't find anything. Yet, they confidently offered 20 days of antibiotic treatment as a cure for an unknown illness. So I, like a good shaman, ignored their treatment, went with one of my spiritual guides in Reu, had a cleaning with eggs, candles, ocotes, and good 'ol Quetzalteca, and Viola! normal again. The guide said it was due to my process in becoming a priest. When one gets stronger spiritually, the dark side gets stronger as well and needs be balanced. This diagnosis I bought, as it worked. And this lead me to think about Nat. She was (on our last visit at the Lake) growing, or better said, had grown quite a bit spiritually. She was much clearer than I remember her being. So, maybe, just maybe, she is going through the same thing. Who knows. Whatever. Anyway, we include you both in our prayers, ceremonies, and Reiki circles. Every lit bit helps, no? Well, that is all from down here. Again, thanks for the update! Steve. |

| 12th November 2007 The Travel Pages | On the Beach! - From: So it Begins Sorry, we didn't stay on the beach. We stayed on Fifth Ave. at a quaint little place called Conchita Maria, it was about $25U.S. per night. The place where that photo was taken was near Burger King. If you turn toward the beach at B.K. on 5th it will be the first hotel on your right. There's a long corridor into the desk and then there's a beautiful courtyard and beach front dining. We don't know the name though, all we did was eat there. Good Luck and Buen Viaje! |
| 12th November 2007 Lauram | Where is this photo taken? what hotel? - From: So it Begins I am looking for someplace cool and beautiful and on the beach to stay in Playa Del Carmen? any suggestions? Thanks! |

| 8th November 2007 ryan | Exciting times - From: Journal Entry: Traveling Truths! Your posts make me want to pack my bags and get the f#*k out of dreary Spokane. | 6th November 2007 peter | to answer your question - From: A couple Goodbyes and ... Taxi ??? to answer your question about fair skinned preference in latin america. the people that control latin society are descended from the spanish, which are white. second on the ladder is spanish+native mixed, third is naive. and the native are of course brown. your skin color is an indication of where you stand in society based on the amount of spanish blood you have. |
| 5th November 2007 Turner | - From: Journal Entry: Traveling Truths! Hey Tim! Woo-Hoo! |

| 4th November 2007 Tricia | somos gringos con mucho - From: A couple Goodbyes and ... Taxi ??? Thank you for the YouCanTan ponderings. I remembered a day in Antigua in about 1972 when I was coming down with a cold and was sure I needed some vitamin C to ward off the symptoms. I stood in a small pharmacy near the town square and tried to express my request in limited Spanish. It hit me like a ton of bricks that I was a young naive Gringa looking for a luxury that my country marketed to me and I did not comprehend what it meant to live on the edge of survival like many in Guatemala. I suddenly felt embarrassed to be a tourist. |
| 4th November 2007 tomS | ..."no place like 'home'... - From: Journal Entry: Traveling Truths! ...we all heard it, "Home is where you are at the time you are". However, in my journeys, 'home' is most-defiantely where I feel the most comfortable. And some places 'feel' more like 'home' then others, even if I am on the most awesomeist trek of my Life... :-) |
| 4th November 2007 tomS | Cataracts... - From: A couple Goodbyes and ... Taxi ??? ...hey looking out that Belize bus made me think I needed to go and see a eye doctor about my cataract condition! Glad ya'all are having fun. The MArket officially closes tomorrow, Nov 4th. What a looooong season, aya!?!... StayHappy.... |
