OMG it's true...I am now sleeping with Grandma Debbie. Welcome to this great big world Quintin Alan Hausman!!!! 7 lbs 7 oz and 21 inches long. Born at 9:25 3-31-07. We know that was a couple of days ago but we have been busy enjoying this little guy. He is 100% healthy and beautiful of course! Josh and Angel did an awesome job getting thru their 1st birthing experience together. We think it was harder on us in the delivery room than them. It was a great experience for all of us. As you know we are back in the [View Full Entry]

We are still hanging out in Santa Fe. We took a short trip to Santa Catalina to visit the beach and take a vacation from our vacation. We stayed at a great little hostal called the Blue Zone. It had hammocks overlooking the Pacific Ocean. There is a huge hype right now about this little town, but we just couldn´t see it. It has a very small beach. It is suppose to be excellent for surfers so maybe that is why we didn´t quite get into it. We did have some great food at a little restaurant called Donde Vianca. Not [View Full Entry]

Sharp enough?

OK..not really a lot of moving around since we last blogged. We did, however, decide that we liked Santa Fe so much we wanted to stay for a while (or forever?). We managed to find a house for rent. It is a fantastic little 3 bedroom house with no hot water, but...it has an indoor flush toilet! It is very quiet and nestled back from the road. The only bad thing we have discovered is the chitras (sand fleas). They come out about 4 pm and last until around 7 pm. We are beginning to wonder what it is like to [View Full Entry]

Here we are, once again! This is the first time we have actually travelled on a bus for an hour and a half to use the internet! Since we last wrote we have travelled up to Santa Fe. It is a cute little town in the center of Panama and mountainous. There is excellent hiking here and many rivers that are very clean. The little town itself has no road signs and no real organization, but it is fun watching the wandering cows graze in the market. Before coming to Santa Fe we made a quick stop at Las Olas (the [View Full Entry]

Slide Down What????

Hola once again! Sorry it has been so long in between blogs, but it isn´t easy to find a good internet cafe. So much has happened and so many stories to tell. We are going to back up to before Costa Rica (that short blog was just to let you know we were all right). We left Pedasi, Panama and headed to El Valle. We weren´t actually sure which direction we were heading until we met with a real estate agent. We spent some time looking at property and he mentioned he was going to Panama City to close a deal. We arrived

Hola from Costa Rica! We are missing everybody..especially over Christmas! We checked into getting a phone card to call everyone, but they are very hard to find...as well as the pay phones! We will call everybody when we make it back to Panama sometime in January, but just wanted to let everybody know we were fine. Thank you for all of the emails and we will reply when we have a better internet connection! Miss you all! Also, will upload some more pics when we get a chance! The digs are a little more primitave at this point! [View Full Entry]

Okay..made it out of Panama City and travelled for a night to Chitre. The bus ride was $7.50 per person and about 3.5 hour ride. The hostal for $10/night. It was a little loud, but we managed to make it through the night! The suicide shower (cold water) was a little scary, but we are still alive. There was a great little church in the center of town. The bus ride from the city was air conditioned and quite comfortable. We are getting by for now with our weak Spanish, but wonder how people that don´t know any can survive! We [View Full Entry]

Hola from Panama City! We made it! It wasn´t without its struggles. Our flight was just fine, both planes leaving fairly close to on time. We arrived at customs and managed to not have our tourist cards to enter the country. It was the first of many tests of our spanish! We aren´t quite sure where along the way we were suppose to get the tourist cards, but we were directed by customs down the hall to purchase one. They were $5 each. Deb headed over to buy them and John waited at customs. 1st nerve racking experience! Getting thru customs [View Full Entry]

Bridge of the Americas

Well, some time has passed since we last made an entry. We have been working our booties off! Putting in long days during the week to help us sustain our winter adventure plans. We have had some good time in between. Since our last entry, leaves have started to fall and our anticipation grows as our journey nears. We took a short weekend over Labor Day to Colorado to visit. We wish we had more time there to visit everybody, but time was short and we hope to be able to see more when we return from the adventure we [View Full Entry]

Well we have signed up for this journal for when we begin our real journey in December. Our first move was here to Minnesota to grab seasonal jobs working May thru November so we are free to actually begin our dream of traveling and eventually moving abroad. We have really enjoyed Minnesota, and when we are not relaxing on our deck after 11 hour work days, we can be found canoeing down the St Croix River finding an island to pitch a tent on. We are also enjoying many visitors here while we still can before being to far away. [View Full Entry]
