Last day in Thailand

I am sad to say that it is our last day in Thailand today. We are having a little free time to do some last minute shopping and dinner right now then later this evening we will having some closing activities to wrap up the program. Most of us are flying out tomorrow but there are a couple of people that leave tonight and some that are staying for a few more days. What an amazing experience. Back in Chaing Mai

Well, we are back in Chiang Mai after 8 days at the Elephant Nature Park. Wow what an experience! It might be hard to find words to explain so I will post a few pictures that explain themselves. The elephants are so beautiful and they taught us so much about how to be compassionate human beings in the world. The stay was fun but hard work too. We had daily chores that included things like, picking up trash, helping out in the kitchen, cleaning up elephant and water buffalo poo, and our favorite... making elephant poo bricks that will be used to build a structure at the park. The Thai students are really warming up to the American teens. And their English is getting better and better everyday. The American students are learning Thai as well ... read more

Hello everyone, Sorry it has taken so long to post. We have been on the go and have not been able to get to the internet cafe. Today is New Years Eve or "Count Down" as they call it here in Thailand. We are so glad to be done flying on planes. I only have a few minutes to post because we are leaving for the elephant park. Take a look at the pics. We visited a very sacred 600 year old Buddhist temple on the top of a mountain called Doi Sutthep. Here a Monk did a blessing for us and our trip. Then we visited a craft market and umbrella factory where artists will hand paint pictures on just about anything. You see and example on the back of Cassie's t-shirt. Well... we are on our way! We had our first meeting as a Rocky Mountain region in the form of a Thai dish potluck on Sunday. It was great to meet new folks and see the familiar ones again.
