The Nobregas are off to sea ... a new experience to add to our travel adventures!!! A 10 day cruise on the "Pacific Dawn" sailing to 4 ports of call around the south pacific region. Anticipation was high, we've heard a lot about it! Couldn't wait to get into that mile of food... As you all know on any cruise, anything and everything is available in on stop shop! and we weren't disappointed in that aspect...! A brouchure tells a million stories though, as we know things don't always go to plan as in our case. 2 days into it, captain makes an official annoucement that we are sailing into a fierce cyclone....! Left the cold weather behind of Las Vegas and heading off to 'paradise'!! On arrival in Honolulu airport we recieved a traditional 'Lei' Meet and Greet from the locals. They make you feel very welcomed. At our hotel was no different, warm smiles and beautiful orchids all around... Positioning of our new home for the next 7 days could be no better, centre of Waikiki beach and shopping/restaurant area. Best beach we've ever been to, where everything happens and everyone is. Hard to get a spot to lay down, it shoulder to shoulder, you get use to it : ) The water 'cristal clear' as we never seen before!!! You can see you toes from any depth... Talking about big...??? Well, Las Vegas has blown us away....WOW! Just like you see it on the tele, casinos and lights extravaganza!! Entertainment capital of the world, we were lucky enough to see two shows: Lance Burton magician (awsome) Jos specially like this one one of his dreams was to see a magic show in Las Vegas. The second one was a 'must' Folies Bergere a typical Las Vegas state show... All the girls in their glitz and glamour! And the boys weren't bad too : ) The casinos were the size of a shopping centre, you could easly get lost in them as we often did. When they say 'Disney World' they not kidding....it is a city within a city!!! 26,000 hectares of land owned by Mr Walt Disney himself. Hotels, resorts , golf courses and convention centres as far as the eye can see!! They even run their own transport system: buses and monorail from and to each park and all hotels resorts. These move 1000's of people all around the parks, a site to be believed. The freeways are even owned by the company..... It's true what they say about America: bigger is BETTER (in their eyes anyway) The parks: AMAZING of course and lots of fun with so much to see and do, you really need a FULL day to experience each one of them... Yes, it's so true wht they say...here is all BIGGER and better than anywhere else in the world!!!!!! No doubt this city has blown our minds and eyes away...... Our hotel was right next door to 'Ground Zero'. It was an emotinal place for us. Such a big hole in the ground , so many lives lost ...sadness all around... Many tourist were taking pictures of it all, we choose not to out of respect. Not a tourist site in our eyes, more like a place of rest for those unfortunate ones... Anyways, this city has soooo much to offer it was hard to know where to start, but as experienced travelers by now : ) we hit the open top buses, let us add how BLOODY COLD it's here!!!!!!!!! More site seeing, souvenir shopping, markets, beach and family time... Jos and I have hit the beach as often as possible, we are looking very brown!!!! My lovely cousin passed on some threatre tickets to a ballet production of Swan Lake at the uruguayan Opera House...An unforgettable night once AGAIN! Christmas has come and gone with a very emotional time for all of us , who knows when I´ll spend christmas in Uruguay again... Jos went off with all the fire works at midnight, he stocked up before hand. By midnight the whole city goes to the streets and lets off their fire works!! Then it was back down to the capital city Montevideo to stay with my brother were we took the oportunity to see most of the sites, restaurants, of course the NIGHT LIFE! With him and the extended family... Had the chance to stay for a few days with my lovely and funniest cousin MARIO and wife Fab who showed us a great hospitality. Jam packed 4 days with them, no stone was left unturned! Hopefully one day they'll visit us down under, you'll love them! We were lucky enough to get the opportunity to go to the Gold Coast of Uruguay 'Punta de Este' where the rich and famous of South America spend their summers! After a pretty long trip all the way from Spain...we made it safe and sound back to my lovely country!!! Family was of course waiting for us with open arms..it was crazy to find my parents there as we've left them in Sydney : ) Very hot start to our stay in South America as we walked out of the airport and it was BOILING!! Got to my brothers place and that was it ...a marathon of talking for hours!!! Catching up and laughing away about everything.... It didn´t stop early as the rest of my family arrived in the evening for more catching up and of course drinking and eating!! Following day up early and off 5 hours north to my mum's birth place "Paysandu" to see the birthday girl...my beautiful grandma turning a big ... read more

Nice short flight over the Atlantic. Arrived in late saturday night, picked up by Guillermo local guy in a Merc and off to our beautiful and excellent located Ambassador Hotel... Quick shower & dress, down to Olympic Port area where the night life was pumping!!!!! everything here happens so late... Dinner past 9pm and clubs & bars 12...Love it! Makes for a long nite. City is huge and Gaudi touches are everywhere! Las Ramblas are always full of people, never seen anything like it.. Paella, sangria, tapas and more are right on our door step! Even the locals selling beer on the kerb side : ) Great business venture for Oz... Catwalk is the club to be seen at, and there we were! Tequila shots in long glasses cheaper than beer...OH OH!!
