Our final stop before heading back home - Iquazu Falls are located at the northern tip of Argentina and borders Brazil and Uruguay. We have finally posted our pictures from the last leg of our trip. It was the perfect place to hit last. We stayed at the Sheraton Hotel, the only hotel that is in the national park. We had a birdseye view of the falls and direct on site access to all the walking trails. We headed out the afternoon we arrived and took a hike through one of the many walkways. We saw some cool looking blue and yellow birds and lizards. We even spotted a guinea pig. Whats nice about this place is that even though there are a lot of tourists, it doesn't seem to be overrun by them as there ... read more

We arrived late evening Dec 28th. Not too late to walk across the street to a local Irish Bar with a live band. The following morning we were picked up by our travel host for a city tour. It was extremely hot. We enjoyed the day travelling around the city taking in many monuments and other city attractions. What a busy city...boasting around 8 million plus another 4 or so outside the city limits. The large cemetary in San Telmo was very interesting. As we wandered through the buildings of tombs we couldn't help but feel strange to be looking in on the sacred resting place of those laid to rest. We toured through a couple of artisan type markets...stopping of course to make some purchases. When we were in Ushuaia we learned of their social ... read more

We arrived at the bottom of the world on Christmas Day. The airport was a small strip of land off the Beagle Channel and offered an amazing view as we flew in for our landing. The snow capped Andes engulf this small town. The climate here is very unpredictable. It's known to be able to have 4 seasons of weather in one day. It is their summer here now. Temperatures range from 50 to 60 F during the day. Dec. 26 We headed out on a small bus tour thorugh the Fuegian Andes where there were plenty of glacier valleys and peat bogs. There are numerous sports centres here and we are told many competitive ski teams come here for training. Our Canadian Beaver lives here too! 24 pairs of them, were taken down in the ... read more

Okay, so it's Dec. 23rd and we are up real early to catch a tour bus that will take us on another boat trip. This time to the Glacier Upsala and to the Estancia Christina Ranch. The first thing that hits you is the beautiful water colour. They refer to it here as glacier milk. The colour is a soft milky green. As we headed out on the Lago (Lake) Argentino we passed by beautiful mountain scenery. The water was dotted with small blue icebergs as we made our way to the Upsale Glacier. This glacier is the largest and longest glacier in South America and was named after the Swedish city of Upsala. It has retreated significantly over the past decade. To give you an idea of its size, it is 5-7km wide and 60 ... read more

We were picked up by our travel host in Llao Llao (pronounced chow chow or yaow yaow) late Wednesday night. We are staying in a lake viewspa resort with a beautiful view and close to the main part of town - Bariloche. Since we had a rental car, we were able to tour around the banff like area. The town itself is very picturesque with swiss style architecture. Gary was able to have fun driving a standard vehicle, while Dani navigated. The landscape is loaded with a bush called broom which is loaded with bright yellow flowers. Not good for anyone suffering from hayfever. The lupins are a favourite. We went up a ski lift to check out the breath taking mountainous area. The lakes are a beautiful blue colour. Afer a morning of touring we ... read more

Please refer to the last blog (Santiago) as we have added pictures to it, finally! We left Santiago on the 18th and took a short flight to Puerto Montt (South of Santiago), then a short bus trip to a small village on Lake Llanquihue. Our hotel over looked the lake with a view of two snow capped volcanoes. The following morning we were picked up by bus to start our Andean Lake Crossing tour to get to our next destination in Argentina. We crossed through the Andes from the Pacific Coast to the interior of Argentina. It took three bus rides and three boat crossings. It was a long trip but the views of the mountains, glaciers lakes and volcanoes were well worth it. The land is all protected by provincial park with very little inhabitants ... read more

Buenos tardes everyone. First things first. We are having difficulty loading pictures again, so will keep working on it. Everything is in Spanish and no one in this internet cafe speaks English. We arrived in Santiago mid afternoon last Saturday. What a great city, except for the smog. The weather has been fantastic...a steady 32 celcius. This city really hustles. Population is about 6 to 7 million. We did a tour to Vina Del Mar on the Pacific coast the following day. Through wine country...very beautiful. Yes, we´ve enjoyed the Chilean wine. Vina Del Mar is very picturesque. Brightly coloured houses dot the seaside like an old italian village. Our best day yet was Sunday, when we were picked up by a private guide, Christian. A pretty cool dude who drove like Mario Andretti through the ... read more

Since the first travel blog we sent out on our first few days in Costa Rica did not include pictures (we did not publish them properly), and are included in this blog. Since we came back to the same place, I have included what we missed in this blog. Our last 4 days are spent back at Playa Del Coco at Rancho Armadillo, the estate we started our trip from. This place is great and our host/owner, Rick is terrific. Originally from Detroit, and a retired chef, he bought this estate over 7 years ago. He is well known by the locals as a great guy. He even sets up your tours for free. There are 3 bungalows that have a fantastic view of the pacific. The centre of the grounds you have the pool, bar, ... read more
