Final Leg -- You can read the last two blogs by logging on and finding our header. Getting up early is not the "best practice" of the younger Quigley teens, however it was necessary on our journey to Switzerland. We reserved a train out of Vernazza at 6:00am and arrived in Interlaken around 4pm. Let me first say that this country is the cleanest I have ever encountered. There must be some mandate on trash pickup or some strange torture practice on throwing trash. We arrived and due to the fact this was a small town with great transportation and good [View Full Entry]

Onward to Italy......(if you have not read the first third of trip you can review before reading this entry) If returning the car in Paris was challenging then getting to Italy was equally a tough one. We arrived at the train station and found our train waiting for us to board. We decided on a 6 berth for cost reasons and were pleasantly surprised to find two very nice young ladies from Sweden sharing the other two bunks. Although they had not showered in a week they seems to wash-rag clean fine. One hour passes the time of departure and we [View Full Entry]

Today was a big day for our family. We finally embarked on the epic journey that we have been planning for more than a year and dreaming about for many more. We flew out today from Marrakesh, Morocco. As many may know there are some crazy airlines here in the African continent and "EasyJet" is only one of them...but it is cheap. We got up early, loaded the gelcap and drove down. A wonderful man (John Gooch) agreed to watch our car. He has a great "work" here in Morocco letting people stay in his home while on breaks from thier [View Full Entry]

I definitely wanted the tye-dyed one!!....................... The long awaited trip was upon us. It is spring break for the school here in Morocco so we had decided to hit the road to the Sahara desert. Camels, Kasbah’s, the oasis, possibly a quad rental but for sure a camel camping excursion in the Sahara. The journey began around 5am on Sunday. Travelling in a caravan of cars from Casablanca was about 15 of our crew. Language skills are not a requirement when going east but it helps. Luckily we had JOJO. Jojo is our resident Moroccan/Frenchman who drags us around the countrys [View Full Entry]

The Cascade d’ Ouzoud is considered one of the special places to visit in Morocco. We had been told about the magnificent waterfalls, great Berber towns in the area. (Berbers are the indigenous peoples of North Africa west of the Nile Valley. They are discontinuously distributed from the Atlantic to the Siwa oasis, in Egypt, and from the Mediterranean to the Niger River.) Getting there was said to be a bit of a challenge so we left early. The roads in Morocco are fine on the main highways but become increasingly dangerous as you get farther into the countryside or the [View Full Entry]

Driving into Marrakesh
Our family recently heard about this place south of Marrakesh called Terres d'Amanar Marrakech. It was said that it had the longest zip lines in the country. On the way we stopped in a little villeage to have some traditional Tagine from a little side store. We were able to feed all 10 fo us for about $12.................typical for roadside fare (the mint tea was a bonus). We decided to spend the day travelling down to Marrakesh spend the day at the park and enjoy the unreal sites of the Marrakesh nightlife at the media. Needless to say the day at [View Full Entry]

Today was the Moroccan Holiday at GWA in Casablanca. It was a crazy. Tiffany and Brenna were able to get henna tatoos, dance to traditional music and watch acrobatic dancing. The students participated and there was a ton of good food. This is an annual festival put on by George Washington Academy in Casablanca. Everyone wore traditional garb..............a definite good time. [View Full Entry]

Sites on the road to El Jedida
We decided to take a day from school and work to spend the day in El Jedida, Morocco. El Jedida is about an hour by coastal road from Casablanca. It is a beautiful trip and we stopped in Azemmour to visit the local medina and the fortress that has a very rich history of Portugese rule. This area was ruled by many countries including Spain, Portugal, Morocco, France, and other various tribes. Once in El Jedida we visited the local medina and shopped for some local goods like a tea pot and some ribbon. The locals in El Jedida are nothing [View Full Entry]
