Well what a perfect end to our trip! Rio was amazing, fun, action packed and everything we wanted. The sun shone brightly for us and we hit the beaches everyday. Caroline and Dom were the perfect hosts and really looked after us. Our final night was spent in Lapa in a wonderful samba bar with great music and wonderful cocktails! It was the best way to while away our final few hours in a traditional Brazilian bar with a vast array of wonderful antiques hanging off the walls. In the short 4 days we had in Rio we visited Sugarloaf mountain, [View Full Entry]

Inca Trail

South America » Peru » Cusco » Machu Picchu
Hi! Just a quick update, to say that we made it to Machu Picchu, after a challenging but amazing 4 day hike. The whole experience was fantastic, we had porters carrying our bags, running in front of us to get the camp set up for our arrival; amazing food - 3 course lunches and dinners and something different to look at around every corner on the trek. We had 2 very knowledgeable and fun guides - Santiago and Joseph for a group of 7 of us. All similar ages to us, but the other 5 were all very unfit Americans! (who [View Full Entry]

Hello all. We must be the most unlucky people when it comes to luggage! Houston airport managed to lose our bags en route to Quito. However, lucky Continental Airways turned out miles more efficient than BA returning them the next day, just in time for our flight to the Galapagos Islands. Quito - lovely city, high in the Andes. We spent a day siteseeing and stayed in a wonderful colonial hotel and were serenaded by pan pipe players at dinner! Galapagos - wow! It was everything weŽd hoped for. The catamaran was amazing - very plush and fantastic food! We visited [View Full Entry]

Sea Lions

Tomorrow we leave Calgary and Canada and head via Houston to Quito in Ecuador. We have said goodbye to our RV and packed off our ski gear so we are ready for the next adventure. We had an amazing time in Canada and it was everything we wanted...although we didnt see a bear! We saw a wolf though in our campsite and some big horned sheep...which you're not supposed to feed (it only mentions this about 25 times in our guide book). We did a long hike one day but turned around when we were entering "berry" country and the bears [View Full Entry]

The Rockies

North America » Canada » Alberta » Banff » Sunshine
Hello everyone! Just a very quick update on our travel blog. We've said a sad 'goodbye' to Whistler, where we'd spent two weeks. It really was a great place to snowboard and have fun! Whilst we where there, it was the World Ski & Snowboard Festival, which meant there was heaps of fun things going on, from 'big air' competitions to lots of live music. One night we stood out in scarfs and hats watching De La Soul with boarders jumping doing 720's in the background to huge fireworks and 'Me, Myself and I'! We made our way down the Icefields [View Full Entry]

Hello from Whistler! Having a fantastic time - RV (Recreational Vehicle!!) is enormous & driving it is a bit of a challenge always needing a helper (ie Beth) for reversing. We've made a decision that Josh will be doing all the driving need I say more.. Staying at a picturesque campsite by a river, just south of Whistler Village. Bear warnings are all over the place which is a little scary, though we're promised that none have ever pounced on anyone yet! Do not on any accounts anyone use Term 5 until they admit that everything is sorted! 3 bags checked [View Full Entry]
