Well, since my last entry I've travelled down sith in Vietnam to Ho Chi Minh City, got myself pickpocketed on the way, spent few days there. Had a ball in Vietnam overall, would recommend it to anyone, even for a couple week holiday!! Then travelled up the Mekong Delta on a boat into Phnom Penh, the capital of Cambodia. Visited the Killing Fields there and some other pretty grim places linked to the genocide that took place in the 70s under Pol Pot. Really interested place though... Then up north in Cambodia to Siem Reap, visited the massive Temples of Angkor and just chilled out for few days. Left there and crossed the border into Thailand and headed for Bangkok and the ridiculously busy Khao San road, its just choca with backpackers, never seen so many ... read more

Hey, I know i havent updated this thing for an age like, but I'll make more of an effort in future I promise!! to give a quick skim over what I've been up to since the last blog entry... think I was just back from Calcutta... after that I headed north in India, to Himachal Pradesh, went to Manali which was cool place, and then took an epic jeep ride to Leh in Ladakh, right up near the Tibetan border. It was awesome up there, the landscape is so barren, looks like you're on the moon! Up there I ckimbed a mountain called Stok Kangri, my highest ever at 6129m!!! Pretty awesome, was with some others trekkers who were all good guys, was lucky to find such a good group! After that I flew back to ... read more

Hi, Just to keep this thing updated, been to Calcutta for almost 2 weeks, staying with Raja, our climbing guide in Himalaya. Was supposed to go to Darjeeling and Sikkim, but they were all closed due to the political strike on there at the minute, mostly hung around Calcutta, which got a bit tiresome after few days, Had great 3 days in the Sunderbans Tiger Reserve though! Got a really good sighting of a Royal Bengal (check out my facebook for great photos, taken by wildlife photographer who was with us)... Back in smelly Delhi now after 18hr train from Calcutta... getting on a 16hr bus today to go to Manali, back up to the mountains, then onto Dharamsala. The Dalai Lama lives there and it's his birthday on 6th July, so gonna try to get ... read more

Hi, Well, I got back from the wilds today, had my first wash since May 24 or something like that, nice to be back to civilization of some sort. Himalayas were awesome. We spend quite a few days acclimatizing, moving up from Badrinath (3100m) to our first camp at 3700m, then crossed the Holdsworth Pass (4500m) and dropped back down again into the Panpatia Valley where our target peaks were. From here we moved up the valley to Base Camp at 3800m, then established Advanced Base Camp at 4400m, things starting to get a bit chilly and air a bit thin at this stage. From here we had a big day up to High Camp at 5100m on the Panpatia Glacier, where we spent 4 nights camped on the ice, and managed to bag 4 previously ... read more

Happenin?, Getting really itchy feet with 6 weeks to go before I leave, so thought I'd give this travel blog thing a go see how it works. Seem to spend half my life at the minute formulating plans for when I'm away. Current plan is 2 months in India, 1st month I'll be climbing some unclimbed peaks in the Himalayas (hopefully getting to the top). Second month I'm gonna do a bit of travelling in India, Dharamsala in the north, then head to Rajasthan, Mumbai and maybe Goa. After that going to Vietnam for 2 weeks, Cambodia for 2 weeks and then Thailand maybe for a month. After that the plans get a bit hazy, but I'm flying from Singapore to Australia, where I'll have to work, then Oz to New Zealand, then Fiji, California and ... read more
