Hi everybody, We just got back into the US safe and sound! Our last week in New Zealand was amazing and a country on the top of our list of places to go back to. We spent most of our time on the South Island, driving around and stopping in Christchurch, Franz Josef, and Queenstown with our last day in Auckland. Christchurch and Queenstown were both very cool towns with great little places to eat and a laid back vibe. They were filled with active people and lots of activities to choose from- or do nothing at all. The drive between [View Full Entry]

Hi from Down Unda! We are just wrapping up our Australia stint and leave for New Zealand tomorrow. Its been a nice change from our last spots and very similar to home: English spoken, variety of restaurants, drinkable water etc. People are so friendly here- we really like it! Started out in Sydney to see the big sights and found it a very international city. The harbor was beautiful as we took a side trip to Manly Beach on the ferry. It's the end of winter/early spring here so the 5pm sunsets and bare trees are a little confusing, but fun [View Full Entry]

Sawadee Kah (Hello) from Thailand! Actually we are in Sydney today, but wanted to send a little update on Thailand. In short, Thailand was awesome. We started with a day and a half in Bangkok. The people are SO friendly and the food is excellent. It was a nice change of pace from India/Nepal and good to see some other Western faces around. We saw some Buddhist sights in Bangkok and took it easy. The rest of the week was spent with some down time on the island of Ko Samui. We stayed in Bo Phut at the Peace Resort and [View Full Entry]

Hi Friends & Family (Namaste- is hello in Nepali & Hindi), We are just leaving Delhi today, on our way to Bangkok Thailand. Nepal and India have been quite the experience- very different from what we're used to. It took us a day or 2 to warm up to the differences in Kathmandu. In particular, the constant honking horns, chaos on the roads with cars, bikes, people, rickshaws, cows, you name it on the road, and continous solicitations from shop owners, resturaunt owners, trekking companies, weed peddlers, beggers etc coming up to us offering or wanting something. Standards of living are [View Full Entry]

Hello from Nepal Asia » Nepal » Kathmandu By Ted Caroline August 1st 2007 Ted & Caroline German Hello everyone, We wrapped up our European adventure and are now in Nepal for the start of our Asian stint. The rest of Italy was great. Vernazza, our town in Cinque Terre was adorable. We did the hike between the 5 towns and enjoyed every bit of it. It was cool to be up in the hillside above the Med Sea and come up to each little town. Our hotel, Gianni Franzi was the best with an awesome view and our balcony overlooking [View Full Entry]

On our gondola ride through Venice
Due to some server errors, this blog was lost.... Here are the highlights: We spent 2 days in Venice, staying on the island Lido. We got lost in the streets and got to enjoy a gandola ride! That was really nice and something we'd always wanted to do. Venice was fun to explore, and for enjoying more gelato! Next it was on to visit our friends Gianna & Bennedetto in Camerano, outside of Ancona Italy. It was a wonderful stay and our hosts we so gracious!! We made pizzas in their pizza oven and went swimming in the Adriatic Sea. It [View Full Entry]

The starting town of our second days hike in the Alps.
Hi all, We survived our hiking through the alps and are in Venice today. The second day of our hike in Swizterland was a little more challenging than we had expected (9 hours of hiking, summiting a 9000 ft peak, descending across snow), so we took the third day off and took a train to hang out in a small town named St. Nicklaus. It was good to give the feet a rest and put down our packs for a day. It makde our hike from St. Nicklaus to Zermatt much more enjoyable as we hiked through a valley (18km) [View Full Entry]

The "old town" in Annecy, France.
Hi all, Here are some more pictures for you. The first is of Annecy in France, super cute town. The next is of our lunch while watching the Tour de France go by in Le Grand Bornand. The third is of Chamonix, a little town in the Alps at the foot of Mont Blanc where we stayed yesterday. Today we completed the first part of our hike through Switzerland, crossing the border with France at the top of Col de Baume. It was a long one, but well worth it. We saw beautiful fields of flowers, snow capped mountains, and [View Full Entry]

Bonjour mes amies! Nous sommes en Paris. For those of you not speaking french we are in Paris! Its been 3 great days of seeing beautiful things, although strangely cold here. Luckily we packed for a New Zealand winter so we are prepared for whatever the weather throws at us. Exciting things we have seen: just about everything since its all cool- including a trip to the top of the eiffel tower, visit in musee DOrsay, and walking through the gardens at Versailles. Today we walked up a huge flight of stairs to the top of the city at Sacre [View Full Entry]

At home, getting ready to go!
Hello family and friends! Welcome to our travel site! This is the first of our travel notes that you'll receive throughout our trip. Read them as you please, post responses if you like, or do nothing at all. We are in Toledo now, celebrating our nation's independence and getting ready for Eric & Mandy's wedding festivities in Cincinatti this Saturday. Our trip begins on Sunday as we fly to our first stop in Paris. From Paris, we head to Annency and hope to catch some sights and see the Tour de France on Bastille Day. After a week in France, [View Full Entry]
