| 21st December 2006 Bruce / Daddy | - From: Museums in Nurnberg Mike and Kel, It sounds like Germany is becoming a favorite for you guys. Glad to hear that you have a king size bed. It must feel good. The basketball shoot with the goggles on at The Sensory Museum sounds like fun. I would like to provide such goggles for my opponents the next time I play basketball. Quip for the day: What word do they use in Italy for the American word blog? Bologna =) Mike, in no way am I hinting that your blogs are full of boloney. |
| 18th December 2006 Scott Neilson | - From: Rothenberg and Romantic Christmas I went to Rothenberg about 15 years ago during a soccer trip over there. Rothenberg (along with Berchesgarden (sp?)) was one of my favorite places. Thanks for the great pictures - they bring back some great memories. |
| 18th December 2006 Brad McNamara | Hey - From: Pedi-Cabs and Crowds in Rothenberg hey guys, I'll be Zurich/Baden the week of January 29th if you're "in the neighbourhood". Have a great Xmas. Enjoy the ride. Brad |
| 16th December 2006 Bruce / Daddy | - From: Rothenberg and Romantic Christmas Mike and Kel, You guys continue to do a terrific job on the blogs. All your fans are able to take this trip with you because you are providing such a detailed account of each day; even a fancy toilet seat. It’s good to see you have a larger size room with a comfortable looking bed. It sure looks like Germany is the place to be during the Christmas season; everything looks quite festive. |
| 16th December 2006 Al Beimfohr | toiletten - From: Rothenberg and Romantic Christmas Ich liebe ihren toiletten sitze! Love the blog, Michael......makes me want to run over to Deutschland right now, cold weather be damned! Have a few "bieren mit schnapps chasers" for us........All the Best and have a Great Christmas (in Nuernburg, if you can get there)........Love you guys........Al (don't miss Dresden, Eisenach, Regensburg, Sylt and the BMW factory tour in Dingolfing) |
| 15th December 2006 Eric Swenson | Cool pix! - From: Bonn Dia Hey guys, I hope you're having fun; it sure looks it! I'm really interested in seeing what you end up doing for Christmas. I guess your choices are limitless. Take care not to get the bird flu. -E |
| 14th December 2006 Leslie | - From: Chocolate Dreams and Christmas Wishes How I love reading your blogs and studying the pictures. You know me, no quick perusal but a concentrated effort to see what you’ve seen and more importantly to see what your faces are saying. So far you guys seem to be having the time of your lives. I couldn’t be more delighted for you. =) Love ya!!! |
| 13th December 2006 Leigh | You guys are making me hungry - From: Driving to Cologne and Christmas Markets I absolutely LOVE your detailed descriptions of the food. However, it does make me hungry when I read your blog. oh well. Enjoy Koln! |
| 13th December 2006 Laura Walger | MJ - From: From Madrid to Frankfurt Sooo, MJ had a fan in Germany... wonder how the David Hassellhoff is going to handle this... can't wait for you guys to get to France and run into Jerry Lewis fanatic! |
| 13th December 2006 Don | great idea - From: From Madrid to Frankfurt Next week on the Amazing Race.... "umm...we've lost one of the couples. I have no idea where they...yes, sir. I know. what's that? they've stopped racing? Oh. They're christmas shopping? great. nice episode that'll make." |
| 12th December 2006 Bryan Lewis | The Amazing Race - From: From Madrid to Frankfurt Every time I read your Blog I think of the TV show "The Amazing Race". I think you two should apply for the show next year. You are already in training. |
| 11th December 2006 Brad McNamara | You're Gettin' Closer - From: From Madrid to Frankfurt Hey Guys, I'm in Baden, just west of Zurich so you're getting closer but not quite close enough to get together for a pint. I'll be leaving by the end of the week (another key difference between our trips). Keep your sense of adventure ( and humour ) and enjoy the ride. Keep the updates comin in' Brad |
| 11th December 2006 Haines | Baggage - From: From Madrid to Frankfurt Sounds like someone is carrying around a little extra baggage! I hope this car rental is as fun as the little red apple on wheels you had last time. |
| 11th December 2006 Don Dada | tutorial - From: From Madrid to Frankfurt Your Madrid guy needs to talk to our Barcelona guy about some MJ tunes. The MJ dancer in La Ramblas was a spitting image. I think we should have a bum training school in America so our panhandlers can have a few entertainment skills like their European brethren. Waddya say? |
| 11th December 2006 Katie M | Your pics appeal to a toddler... - From: Shop Till You Drop...But Don't Buy Much Well, Claire caught a glimpse of the wig pictures and thought they look way cool (you got her pointing and doing toddler-speak at the computer). I'm looking forward to showing her the chicken picture tonight. Looks like you guys are having lots of fun. No ideas for you for New Year's, as our New Year's are almost always dull (of our own choosing). Keep the blogs coming. Between your trip and my friend who is in China adopting baby #2, I'm getting a lot of armchair travel in this month. Take care. |
| 11th December 2006 Aaron Parks | Whew! - From: Shop Till You Drop...But Don't Buy Much Do you know how much Cap One time I just spent catching up on your travel wares from the begining?? I was rifling through my wallet when I came upon the business card you gave me, MT. So glad I took the time to type in the URL! Kel, we haven't met, but I've known Mike for a few years here at Cap One. I wish you guys the best. Keep taking pictures! I think that's my favorite part as I live vicariously through you guys... :) |
| 11th December 2006 laura white | thanks for sharing - From: Errands and the Royal Palace just love the stories and photos. Is it hard to believe it has been a month? What is your favorite memory so far? look forward to getting your postings - and I'm very jealous of the afternoon naps :) Laura |
| 11th December 2006 Bruce / Daddy | - From: Wigging Out in Madrid Mike and Kel, Looks like you guys had great fun with the wigs. Maybe you can start a new trend when you come back to Capital One. I was trying to come up with a sentence using the word ‘wig’. My best shot is as follows: While walking through the woods 'swigging' a bottle of soda I looked down and saw an 'earwig' on the ground and also a 'wiggly' worm clinging to a 'twig'. |
| 9th December 2006 Laura Walger | crazy ideas - From: Wigging Out in Madrid I love the top pic where the woman with green & white hair is giving you the stink eye like you are the weird one. What a crazy tradition.. thank you so much for sharing it with us. I'm thinking that the NYE party is going to have some sort of wig requirement ... |
| 9th December 2006 Laura Walger | - From: Paella, Chatting and the Alhambra When you guys get back are you going to get a cat??? Every town has Kel and a cat hanging out. Its a sign... actually you can have one of ours! Alahambra is beautiul - thank you for the pics! |
| 9th December 2006 Laura Walger | awww - From: Marbella, A Place for the Rich, the Famous . . . and Us! aww, the picture with the kitty ! YES I am a cat fan- love my doggies but a cuddly kitty will get me everytime. Glad you guys are enjoying the good life- it looks like you could get very comfortable there! |
| 9th December 2006 Laura Walger | WOW - From: The Sort of Days That I Live for The pictures are beautiful- Marabella & Zahara are spectacular. Thank you for taking so many pics and keeping up with the journal. Its wonderful to read. Today ( 12/09) its a high of 30 dg and cloudy- Spain pics to chase away the doldrums! Thank you! |
| 8th December 2006 Katie M | Wig Crazy - From: Wigging Out in Madrid I love the wig pictures -- but how exactly are wigs tied to Catholic Christmas? While you both are quite striking in your do's, my personal fave is the older woman in the pink punk hair. BTW, you should both be able to hold your own at a chic art opening with all the great art you are seeing. Not too many people know Gris! I don't know if you knew this, but your TravelBlog autogenerates custom ads based on the title you give your entry. Today - it's all about the wig wholesalers. Target marketing at its finest. Better watch what you put in your headlines :-) Congrats on reaching the milestone of one month away. I'm thoroughly enjoying my trip around with world through you. Keep having fun. |
| 8th December 2006 Rebecca | Wig props - From: Wigging Out in Madrid Only Kel is fashion-savvy enough to pick wigs that look good no matter which one of your heads they're on! Well done! |
| 8th December 2006 Tracy | too funny - From: Wigging Out in Madrid Love the wigs you guys! I am enjoying the pictures! |
| 8th December 2006 Leigh | Meat Tiara? - From: Entering Madrid I'm a little behind in reading your blogs but in the window display picture, it really looks like a meat tiara. What is that???? |
| 7th December 2006 Bruce / Daddy | - From: The Prado and Christmas Craziness Mike and Kel, It sounds like your ‘river princess’ ride on the estanque at the Parque del Buen Retiro was a lot of fun. My only comment is that the person that rented you the rowboat had not taken boating 101. One of the first rules of boating is everybody wears a life jacket. It looks like you guys didn’t end up swimming, however, so all is well. |
| 6th December 2006 Schiller | Hola! - From: The Prado and Christmas Craziness Sorry I hadn't written a note in a while. Spain is muy bueno - I strongly support countries with institutionalized nap time and lots of coast line. Madrid is one of my favorite cities so glad that you guys are getting to explore and are ejoying it. Hope all is well. |
| 6th December 2006 Don Juan de Reeshmonde | Shutter Drag!! - From: Entering Madrid Mikey...your picture of the street band...excellent example of shutter drag. You had the principle subject of the band standing relatively still compared to the walker to the left of the frame. In daylight like that you need a shutter speed of around 1/100th to stop most normal motion. It looks like you were at about 1/30th here. So...you get the blurry walker which is a really cool effect. Another way to do this would be to actually follow the walker with your lens as they moved in front of the band. Then you're walker would have been relatively sharp and the band/background would be blurred. Your friendly neighborhood photographer and his unasked for tutorials ;) |
| 6th December 2006 TP | Christmas Hair - From: The Prado and Christmas Craziness Are you sure you guys arent really in Oompa Loompa land. That hair looks really familiar |
| 5th December 2006 Brad McNamara | So close - From: Entering Madrid Hey Guys, It's been great following your adventure - sounds like you're building a few memories. I'm actuallly in Milan until Dec 10 (and Zurich until Dec 14). Too bad you weren't just a little closer and we'd get together for some Xmas nog. Regardless, have a great journey and keep the updates comin' in. Brad |
| 4th December 2006 Bon | Love the dog - From: Hippies, Roma, Gypsies...they're all in Granada Love that dog, yurs is a great big doll and we are really getting attached to him. There is no way Catfish would ev er follow on anyone's heels. One furry little animal would scurry by and he would be off and running. I can also see that guys in bands look the same the world over. Love ya. Bon |
| 2nd December 2006 Bruce / Daddy | - From: Paella, Chatting and the Alhambra Mike and Kel, I really like the arch pictures (Granada and Palacio Nazare). They make the scenery look very special. I have heard questions referring to how you guys are financing this trip. I let people know that it is very simple. You guys put out a blog on a regular basis. Bloggers have $25 per month automatically withdrawn from their checking accounts. With 150 bloggers things are going famously. I also let them know you give a bonus of $25 to whoever recommends a new blogger. OOPS . . . Just kidding. We don’t want to go down to 2 bloggers overnight, John and Bonnie and Bruce and Leslie. =) |
| 1st December 2006 Scott Neilson | teaching American - From: Paella, Chatting and the Alhambra "teaching American" - how does one do that exactly? is it like an anti-Miss Manners class? |
| 30th November 2006 Marge | Kitty - From: Marbella, A Place for the Rich, the Famous . . . and Us! Hey, I want that kitty! Bring her/him home for me. Precious thing. |
| 30th November 2006 Judy Graham | Friend of John and Bonnie - From: Marbella, A Place for the Rich, the Famous . . . and Us! Your Dad sent me your blog info, and I have been following your travels. Your comments on Marbella makes me wish I could join you! Such a beautiful place! My aunt lived in Spain for two years when her husband was in the Navy. I wish now I had taken the opportunity to visit for a month when she extended the invitation many years ago. I am looking forward to your next journal entry! |
| 30th November 2006 Deb Hazelwood | I am mesmerized.... - From: The Sort of Days That I Live for Kelley, I met you for such a brief time when I worked with you on the new payments products (but enough about work)... I cannot tell you how much I am enjoying reading your blog! I am a huge news hound, but night after night when I come home, I jump on your site and read about what you two are doing---without paying any attention to the nightly news! I find it amazing that you two are so willing to take the time to share your experiences! I went to Spain in 1991 ( yes, I am ancient) and found the place and the people absolutely marvelous! Glad that you found cafe con leche---it doesn't get much better than that! Keep those cards and letters coming.... THANK YOU, deb |
| 28th November 2006 Bruce / Daddy | - From: The Sort of Days That I Live for Kel and Mike, The hill towns look really pretty and the olive oil factory sounds fascinating. In one of your previous blogs someone referred to me as Bruce/Daddy. I realized in reading it that it would be a cool name, Bruce Daddy. It sounds like a name for a football player or a rock star. After doing a marketing survey (1 person, Leslie) and some major soul searching I decided not to use the moniker. However, I do like Bruce Daddy. |
| 28th November 2006 Tim K | - From: Happy Thanksgiving World Wow...absolutely beautify. I'm jealous! |
| 28th November 2006 Beth | wow, so wonderful - From: The Sort of Days That I Live for this leg of your trip looks so wonderful! The towns are gorgeous with the white stacking of buildings...makes us all salivate back in the USA, with our suburbia and lack of design.... While you are there, try the raisins and let me know if they are amazing. When Bruce and I were just in France in October, I fell in love with the raisins. They were very moist and succulent, and tasted nothing like ours at home. It was as if they were just off the vine ( which they probably were, as they vine dry them there) and so fresh. Hope you can find some for a real treat. I imagine they would be similar there. love, Beth |
| 27th November 2006 Haines | Driving - From: Arcos to Gibralter and Back It looks like they drive on the right side of the road (literally & figuratively). Does it switch sides within the same country? |
| 27th November 2006 laura white | keep writing - From: Happy Thanksgiving World I have come to look forward to reading about your adventures each day. Happy Thanksgiving to you as well. Keep the stories coming! Have fun and safe travels. Laura |
| 27th November 2006 Haines | - From: A Spontaneous End to a Plodding Sort of Day Thanks for the shoutout! Sounds like you're finding the perfect activities that couldn't have been planned any better. Hope you had a great Thanksgiving! |
| 26th November 2006 Bruce / Daddy | - From: Happy Thanksgiving World Kel and Mike, I really liked your bull personifications; you guys aren’t scary but you are fun! |
| 24th November 2006 Laura Walger | Happy Thanksgiving! - From: A Spontaneous End to a Plodding Sort of Day Hi guys- I hope you were able to find a great place to celebrate the day. Maybe no turkey but in Spain with all the amazing choices who cares! Also, be happy you have missed the TV ad's Walmart is running now- open at 5am so shoppers can start the mass buying spree. I'm sure there will be something on cnn about a shopper trampled to death in a mad rush for the latest x-box or $49 laptop! The pics are beautiful and the stories are very entertaining! |
| 24th November 2006 Laura Walger | - From: Good Days and Bad News in Lagos The pics of the grottoes are amazing. Lagos looks like a beautiful place to hang out for a couple of extra days so you have zero sympathy from me for being stuck! take care guys! |
| 24th November 2006 Laura Walger | - From: Good Food and Rainy Days in Evora I have to 2nd Bruce/Daddy's comments. Even after eating T-Day leftovers and I'm still stuffed reading about the dinner made me wish I had something yummy & fun like that to eat! Glad you guys are having so many adventures! |
| 24th November 2006 Laura Walger | Barber of Seville - From: The Last Days in Lisbon the reason you got the haircut in Lisbon ;) |
| 24th November 2006 Linda and Al | We love reading about your adventures - From: Happy Thanksgiving World Kelley and Mike, Thank you for sharing your fantastic travel experiences with us. It is truly a treat. Don't forget about California as you are navigating the world. We'd love to have you spend time with us. Love, Linda and Al |
