| 3rd November 2007 Diane and Jack | Broadening horizens and realizations - From: 30th Birthday In Barcelona…It Could Certainly Be Worse Kelley and Mike, you two are living and learning like I wish everyone could do! And to experience doing things independently while still in a loving relationship is such an asset to your relationship. And, on top of that, to really appreciate your parents is even more wonderful. And know that you are fortunate to have your wonderful parents who love you so very much, as do yours Kel. Hopefully the Turner parents will finally meet the Mongno side during the 2008 reunion! I am holding my breath and keeping my fingers crossed that it will happen! We love you both very much!!! Jack and Diane |
| 2nd November 2007 laura | Happy b.day!! - From: 30th Birthday In Barcelona…It Could Certainly Be Worse happy belated birthday!! still really enjoying your fab blog here in rainy blackpool lancashire england. you really should make it into a book when u get home! laura :) |
| 2nd November 2007 sprucemoose | By the way, you take brilliant photos! - From: Hanging in Mebourne and Aussie Rules Footy Footy does have a bit of strategy. Each position has certain roles (e.g. ruck, rovers, taggers), team strategies include flooding and zones, team tactics can include short game passing (i.e. handballing heaps) or long game (preferring to kick to contests). AFL just seems unorganised because it doesnt use predetermined "team plays" like in NFL. Which is good as AFL is then fast paced and exciting, compared to NFL which has many stoppages and takes 3hrs to play 60min! But we cant really talk, with our 5 day cricket games :) Anyway, it's hard to understand AFL, but once you do it's then hard to stop loving it. I hope you liked Finland too, weird but wonderful country! :) |

For a country the size of Texas, it has Paris, beaches, mountains, food, cathedrals, countryside, Rivieria, etc etc etc. Fantastique |

| 20th September 2007 TomTraveler | I know what you mean! - From: What To Do If You Find Yourself In Oia I was in Santorini exactly a year ago this month. I still haven't gotten over it. It is one of my favorite places on this earth. I have been to many islands, but Santorini is so unique. Although I stayed in Fira, I agree that Oia is where you feel like you truly in the lost city of Atlantis. I never got bored. We hit the wine trails, went to the black and red sand beaches, and spent time shopping in both towns. We were in Santorini for 3 days, and for me that was not long enough. I can't wait to go back. |
| 19th September 2007 cam2yogi | Better & Better - From: What To Do If You Find Yourself In Oia Damn... those photographs are lookin' sweet, team. Truly beautiful my Friends. In Peace, cam |

| 12th September 2007 Jacek | Laudromat? Whats that? - From: A Rich and Shattered Heritage "Krakow has a drought of easily accessible laundromats" In Poland there is no such thingy like "laundromats". Nowhere! Semi-cultural issue. You should check this before arrival here. If you thin that they will be usable - maybe this is business opportunity fo you? :) |
| 11th September 2007 Beth Shadur | death camps - From: A Rich and Shattered Heritage Thanks for your blog. I myself couldn't even go to visit, it would be too devastating for me, so I especially appreciate your photos and descriptions. It is especially a time to contemplate, given it being Rosh Hashana, and the beginning of the High Holidays, and a time when Jews all over the world give over their time for contemplation. |
| 10th September 2007 Rebecca | Happy Anniversary! - From: Taking A Crack At Krakow Happy 5th anniversary!! And Kel, I'm with you. There are few things more romantic than a carriage ride. Hope you are both well. |
| 10th September 2007 Schiller | What does Mike bring to the table? - From: Taking A Crack At Krakow A very fetching photo of Mrs. Turner with the rose petals. Kel, did you get one of Mike doing the same so that you can have a matched pair - don't let him trick you into bearing the full burden for sex appeal on the blog as you should get a day off once in a while. |
| 8th September 2007 SuperBad | Congrats - From: Taking A Crack At Krakow Krakow is an amazing city and anyone who has been there will agree. Great pictures and congrats on your 5 years! |
| 7th September 2007 Gunga | Chicken and Orange juice - From: Taking A Crack At Krakow Sorry you didn't make it inside Wawel Castle- it is an incredible space and one that fully emphasizes the artistic skills of the Polish people. I was there over 10 years ago and still recall being awed by the ceiling carved with face masks as well as by the intricate parquet floors. Be sure and find the restaurant that sells only roasted chicken ( by weight), great french fries and, FRESH squeezed orange juice. Carolyn ( Blogger name 'gunga') |
| 3rd September 2007 albert | oslo really is expensive - From: Oslo Really Is EXPENSIVE Hello, there I can't realize that Oslo is expensive but Paris and London are very expensive cities too,for example in Paris you can pay your coffee up to 5 € about 6 or 7$!In oslo the city is clean but in paris it's dirty for example! | 2nd September 2007 prad | nice one !! - From: Nouveau Riche: The Latvian Way of Life Hi, I dont know whether I will get a chance to be in Riga, but your description of the people around and the place was really vivid. I loved the pictures too. Hope to read more of your travel articles. -- prad |
| 2nd September 2007 danik | erm....latvia holds onto the past - From: Nouveau Riche: The Latvian Way of Life Hey. Im english. I am about to move to Latvia to start a business hopeully with my financee out there. I been there so many times over the past two years plus researched into its history and people. Believe me, Latvia dont want to hold onto the past. The older people may think the ussr way of life was great and should still have it. The younger people believe in the European Union. But the money which comes from the EU to the Latvian government should go on projects etc like new housing, new roads, new transport system and improve peoples way of life. Not always the case. The government keeps a lot of the money and improve their lifestyles, especially with their homes in Jurmala (21km west of Riga). Latvia wants to move on. Within the next ten-twenty years, when it has got rid of the older generations..it will completey. But believe me, Latvia hates Russia. Government always fighting, latvia claiming that Russia should pay them so many millions for treatment by them and germany in the second world war. Anyway,... enough history..glad your happy with Riga. Its a great little city. If you want to see my travel blogs and photos or Riga (and other euroland destnations.) please feel free to view on - www.myspace.com/danik_travels_the_world Cheers Danik |
| 30th August 2007 ryssee | I so wanna go! - From: The Journey to Pompeii Great post with good advice, and fabulous pics! Hope to make it there in 2008! |
| 29th August 2007 Haines | Roman Delight - From: Rome Part II: Friends Instead of Family I think we all had a great time in Italy. I'm glad we're were all able to meet up as we traditionally do. Thank you TeamTurner for making a 2nd trip to Rome to spend 4 days with us. |
| 29th August 2007 Leisette | Trip to Pompeii - From: The Journey to Pompeii Hi Michael and Kelley, Thanks for the honesty and great advice about the trip to Naples and Pompeii. My husband and I have been visiting the U.K. for two months and are conemplating a trip to Italy. Italian travel sounds chaotic. While living in Berlin for 12 years I experienced the overwhelming b.o. of people on public transportation. Man, I understand and sympathize. The British smell pretty good overall and are generally quite polite, so I definitely recommend travel in the U.K. Your comment about extensively traveling being a grind is one I definitely understand. I admire you and your wife for taking the plunge and doing it for a year! Thanks for the heads up about Prague. It makes me wish I had taken the opportunity to visit right after the Communist government failed. Best, Leisa |
| 29th August 2007 Schiller | Leveraging the experience - From: The Journey to Pompeii The Team Turner Membership has been duly noted - the LSE experience was deleted from the cv to make room for the following; Honorary Member, Team Turner - 2007. | 28th August 2007 Alexa | Great Time....Great Friends - From: The Journey to Pompeii Hey Guys! I love the write-up (and the honesty). The pictures are fantastic, as usual. I need to get copies of the group photos we took that night on the balcony. We had a great time and the trip was made even better by the friends (old and new). I wish you many great things in your last few months of travel and we can't wait to see you again stateside! |
| 27th August 2007 Katie M | Yay for laundry - From: Lagging Behind in Prague Ooo, ooo...I can totally relate to the excitement of getting laundry done! That can be a highlight of my week, too :-) Glad to see you both are still having fun and liking each other! Hard to believe you're on the home stretch of your travels. Congrats on recovery of your blog. We're doing well. Sophie is approaching 4 months. She just learning to roll over, which she wants to do all day long. Claire is talking up a storm. I'm working on getting her ready for preschool, which starts in about two weeks. Take care, Katie |
