God Dag! (good day) Chelsea and I are now in Oslo, Norway staying with one of my dad's second cousins, Tim. We had a pretty good trip here (one hour delay getting out of Dublin, but oh well!). So far Norway strikes me as very similar to the Pacific Northwest. Rugged terrain, lots of mountains and lakes, and saltwater fjords like the Puget Sound. Oslo is a great city to visit, easy to navigate and it offers lots to see and do. Dang, it is expensive though!!! Everything costs about double compared to the US. Tim drove us up to a [View Full Entry]

Well, one thing that we learned about Ireland is that internet connections are few and far between! So now we have a lot to catch up everyone on, especially if we hope to encourage a cult following of our blog by the end of the trip! Now we are settled in Norway (We arrived late last night) and have spent the day exploring Oslo, getting sun-burned (Even Norway is warmer than Ireland!) and enjoying David’s relatives wonderful hospitality. But David and I had such an amazing last few days in Ireland, we had to do one last entry on the remainder [View Full Entry]

So, I have been driving in Ireland for 4 days now. Here is a list of my lift of the good, the bad, and the ugly of driving while Irish. The Good -Respect for the passing lane!!!! People DON'T sit in the passing lane forever on the freeways here! -New and well maintained roads. Apparently the EU has spent a lot of money to update the road system here, well worth it! -Polite and confident drivers. They won't run you off the road, but they'll beep a little if they have to. (and with me in a roundabout, they had to) [View Full Entry]

Hello again, we are just getting ready to leave our hostel in Cork. Chelsea and I have been talking about how much fun it would be to open a Bed and Breakfast someday in Seattle. We really enjoy the B&B experience, and think it would be fun from the other side too. Besides, I like to cook breakfast and Chelsea is a compulsive cleaner! We were thinking of combining the B&B idea with another of our ideas...to retire (in 30-40 years) to a little houseboat on [url=http://maps.google.com/maps?ie=UTF-8&oe=utf-8&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a&um=1&q=lake+union,&near=Seattle,+WA,+ [View Full Entry]

Hiya from Kilkenny, Ireland (Pronounced: Kill-kenny, as if that wasn’t obvious!) Since our last blog and two full and exciting days in Dublin, David and I have began to travel south and west from Dublin. Yes, that means that we are on the open road! Scarey! For those of you who don’t know Ireland, like England, drivers use the left hand side of the road. And since we are using a manual, that means that David is using a left handed shifter! With a little luck of the Irish and his own confidence in his driving skills, David has successfully navigated [View Full Entry]

Hello all, greetings from the cloudy and rainy island of Ireland. Chelsea and I are having fun in Dun Laoghaire (pronounced dun leery) and Dublin. We are staying in a cute B&B, painted mostly the color salmon pink, with creaky old beds and the most confusing shower I have ever use. I broke the controls the first time I tried to use it, the look on the owners face was of annoyed bemusement when I told him. Thanks to the Meier kids for their prayers for a good flight, we were given an upgrade to World Traveler Plus for free! That [View Full Entry]

This July has been a crazy month for David and I. As if preparing for two months in Europe was not enough, we have had one major event after another! Thankfully, we have survived all the chaos and are now looking forward to our grand adventure in only 5 days! Since graduation, I have been studying my head off: memorizing countless lab values, disease processes, and random medications; only to take my nursing boards and discover that all my hours studying had practically been spent in vain! My exam consisted of seventy-five of the most RANDOM questions ever conjured up. These [View Full Entry]

That's it folks, seven years later and she is finally a college graduate We know this is not a travel related entry, but since it is one of the main reasons for our traveling, we thought it was appropriate to include a blog about this weekends events! This past weekend consisted of many long ceremonies, heart warming celebrations and strange graduation traditions and hoopla! From Ivy Cutting, to Pinning, to Commencement; it's enough to wear any new graduate out (as well as her supportive friends and family)! Both David and I agree that one of our favorit [View Full Entry]
