I was born in Toronto Canada but have lived in Australia for all but 18 months of my life. Finally, in 2006, it was time for me to return to my birth place and discover another life in a much colder climate!

Having travelled much of south east Asian, the Bahamas, Italy, New Zealand and Australia I'm now exploring North America

Top of my list of places to visit next include: Turkey, Inida, South America, Greece, Seyshells, Europe, Egypt.

I hope you enjoy reading about my travels! xxx

This past weekend a group of us headed off to Ucluelet, a beautiful coastal town near Tofino on Vancouver Island. We jumped on one of the huge B.C. Ferries and took the hour and a half trip accross the Georgia Strait to the Island. Then we drove another hour and half to Ucluelet. The drive was very pretty. I peered through the thick, dense forest looking for bears whilst we traveled down this very windy road. I was lucky enough to actually see one - up real close - on our way back. We were literally about 10m or less away from it! Luckily, in our car. You can view the b... read more

Coming to an end.

Sooner or later our glorious American road trip had to come to an end, much to my dismay. But with our pockets continuing to empty and not re-filling, and having lived out of a suitcase for the better half of 3 months, it really was time to power on through to Vancouver and set up shop. We zoomed from San Fran to a real out of the way country town called Laytonville. We crashed here (as I recovered from a nasty 1 day cold!) and were up the next morning to begin what turned out to be a lovely day of driving through Redwood forests. Our highway wound between fairyland forests of moss-covered trees and ancient, untouched lands. Dark and damp but in no way scary or uninviting, we drove with our heads pressed against ... read more

The time had to come when Corey and I would be leaving LA. But to alleviate my despair I had the long, winding highway 1 coastal drive to look forward to. I was told that the west coast of the US is a spectacular drive so I was excited to get going and start viewing the waves and cliffs. We drove through Malibu on the way up the coast. Another place I had always wanted to go. We didn’t stay in Malibu long, just long enough for me to take a bit of a run on the beach. We stayed in a small town that night called King City and the next morning we were on our way to San Francisco! Believe me, you don’t want to be learning how to drive a manual car ... read more

We made a snap decision to stay one extra night in L.A, (much to my excitement) but instead of staying in Hollywood we decided to head back to the coast and stay the extra night in Santa Monica. We went out that night to a thumping club with some of Corey’s friends, but the club was a bit too “Sydney” for me, (friends were lovely, as per usual with Corey’s mates). What I enjoyed most was walking along the famous Santa Monica pier where many a Hollywood movie has been filmed and watching the sun set as I drank a banana margaritas as Corey and I ate quesadillas whilst listening to a fantastic live guitarist. I also liked Venice beach. It truly is a melting pot of all types. There were gypsy psychics, funky black ... read more

My dreams finally came true as we drove into Los Angeles! It was almost a religious experience for me to finally be entering LA - a place that I had fantasised about for all the years that I wanted to be an actress. This is where it all happens and the energy was palpable! Our first stop in LA was Hollywood Boulevard. Here we walked the famous Walk of Fame, (not all of it - there are over 2500 stars built into the pavement!). I lost all respect for the purpose and meaning of these stars when I was told that Ryan Seacrest had a star. These stars cost $15K to create. Fame does have it’s price it would seem. On Hollywood Boulevard we also found the Kodak Theatre - the place I had dreamt ... read more

After the bright lights and debauchery of Vegas we were pleased to arrive in the beachside city of San Diego. Hello Pacific coast California!! Woo hoo! This is what I’ve been waiting for. Corey’s friend John, who we had dinner with on our first night in Vegas, lives in San Diego so we decided to say g’day to him again and let him show us around his seaside town. San Diego reminded Corey and I of Sydney in some parts. Some of the architecture looked quite similar and it is on the water so that helped bring back the memories too. Apart from the Sydney-ish places San Diego also possesses a Mexican flair - being so close to the boarder, (you can see Tijuana from the top of a lookout which John took us to). ... read more

Vegas - wow. I want to say that everyone should experience Vegas at least once, but I’m not sure if that’s really the correct thing to say... To me Vegas was a paradox of good and evil. It was surreal and fantastical, which was fun, but Vegas depends on some of the more unhealthy of human sins for it’s survival. As you drive into Vegas and onto “The Strip” a momentary paralysis takes hold of your senses as they go into overdrive trying to absorb the plethora of flashing multi coloured neon lights and gaudy palm trees, clowns, a replica Eiffle tower and Empire State Building. It is, to say the least, a shock to the system. Casino hotels line the infamous main street in Vegas, known simply as “The Strip”. Cards advertising an array of ... read more

After the thrill of Nashville and Memphis we made a sharp west turn and started our drive into the Great Plains. We didn't stay for very long in any of the places between Memphis and Vegas so most of our experiences were from taking in the beautiful, jaw dropping scenery. It was also pretty cool to be driving along the old historic Route 66 at times. Route 66 stretches from Chicago all the way to Santa Monica and some of the old houses, shops and bars are still there but run down and uninhabited now. The first day on the road we pushed through Arkansas to a small town on the boarder called Alma where we stayed for the night. In the morning we crossed the boarder into Oklahoma and this is where we started to ... read more

After Nashville we drove the short drive, (about 3 1/2 hours) to Memphis. We decided to take an offshoot highway instead of the main road so that we could get into the thick of the cotton pickin’ south. Talk about hillbilly country! There were shanty houses dotted among the trees complete with garbage and junk piled high in the front yards. Most of these houses looked like something out of the back streets of Vietnam, so dilapidated and run down. It was quite unnerving to be driving through these areas, if not for the weird hillbilly energy, but because of the intense vibe from the history of slavery and civil war battles that were fought in the region when cotton was King and the whites ruled supreme. The cotton fields are alive and well in the ... read more
