Finally got to Varna! thank god, the sky cleared up today and its perfect for the beach! The night before was alright as well. Went to the hostel, and great people there!! A traveller works temp. there and he is cool!! He brings the guest to all these nice fun places in town! First we went Go-Karting!!! haaa.. 8 of us had a 15min. competition! Next day had to catch the bus to Veliko Tarnovo...walked around the old town in the morning. The rain is heading to this region...>__<" ahhhh. I loved Plovdiv though....wish I had spent more time there!!!! Anyways, took the bus and arrived at V.T. arrived at this bus station in the middle of nowhere???? it wasn;t on the map!!!! so lost.. thank god for the first time, the payphone and the number worked! Finally arrived in Sofia.. It was like, 10:30pm and I was at the train station, hoping for someone to pick me up. BUT, noone showed up. So, I was about to get a taxi when they overpriced me! so I decided to take the tram. I have directions to the hostel I wanted to go, but, couldn't find the station to take it!! so asked for help and suprisingly!! So, arrivied in Odesa and the nice hostel I wanted to go to was full! I was transferred to this other hostel on the other side of town and it was FAR!!!!! Planned only one afternoon here so went to the Catacomb caves...and walked around the city... its ok, ODesa is old...lots of streets and buildings still under construction.....they have a beach...but I'm not that interested in... checked out the ferry schedule at the port...went to the wrong port and was LOST.. these guys offered help and brought me to the passenger terminal!! So, yesterday afternoon the sun actually came out...so, I went to this cobblestone touristy street that lead to the Sophia Monastary. They have pretty nice street stalls on this street actually!...it was a slope tho...-__-" Things are so cheap here! got this kinda glow-in-the-dark necklace...for 2Euros! haaa Got to Sophia Church....HUGE...but things are weird here... You need to get a ticket to get into the complex, then for the inside of the church and other exhibits, you need seperate tickets!! ahhhh...so ma farn!!!!!! thank god they had a bit of the ticket info in English........b [View Full Entry]

So, went to the Cliff Monastary of Orheiul Vechi... It was a LONG walk up under the baking sun! but, Amazing! The whole area was like a valley and before, it was all seawater!!! you can see shells and stuff in the rocks and cliffs still! I think it was 200 years ago that it was underwater...and now..its very good land for farming! The cliff monastary was small.......but pretty cooool. We went there as a group but no guide. I LOVE YOUTH HOSTELS.. it might be small, stuffy, hot, no internet. BUT, it saves me from my problems! at least some.... So, having a very difficult time getting around and actually travel within Moldova..the microbus system is kinda....all over the place..like Mini vans in HK but its hard to find the terminus.... Anyways, LUCKILY, there were these Estonians in my hostel, one of them spoke Russian so could get by pretty easily. They arranged this wine-tasting tour today. At first, I wasn't going, coz I wanted to go to this valley village with this cliff monastary, but..MONDAY! [View Full Entry]

Ok, So, from Romania on to Moldova... Took the train to Iasi and then the bus to Chisinau....besides hot...nothing much. Met this Moldovian woman on the bus and she couldn't speak much English.. very interesting, still able to kinda communicate. She was trying to help me to my hostel but I guess she got it wrong...we got off way far from the city centre and no ATM around works!!
