For me, Amsterdam has an air about it that feels somewhat amiss, but also completely natural. I packed quite a lot in to my days & nights in Amsterdam from which I learned invalueble lessons, some of which I will now share with my dear readers. Well, firstly, this is something that I have already shared but I feel, for safety measures, it needs to be expressed again- The Dutch drive on the right! Say it with me "look left, keep right". I did get the hang of it eventually, my trick was just to ride without looking which meant that a) [View Full Entry]

Amsterdam? What to say, what to say?.... I think the photos desribe it best. My past couple of days have contained less orange people & tram gopings, with a lot more bike riding, & of course eating. There is such a strong cafe scene here- its so beautiful- whenever there is nice weather (20 degrees today! Heat wave!), everyone packs the sidewalk cafes & watchs life ride by. I will confess that learning to ride on the road, with traffic all around & no idea where I'm gong, on the right hand side has been a challenge. I am pleased to [View Full Entry]

The best plane buddies ever!
A hoi hoi ouit Amsterdam! The Netherlands was calling so I got up at 430am to leg it out to Gatwick to catch a one hour flight to A'dam. I festively adorned myself with the Royal family colour of orange & borded the plane to sit in my online pre-chosen seat 11D which was just meant to be.... as soon as a put my bag down the woman I was to sit next to said the magic words "I'm feeling chatty"... & that was it- I spent the next hour & a half flailing my tounge around with the British Sophie [View Full Entry]

So... I quit my job.... now I'm just cruising around. On Friday I set off with Jess into the counrty side of Dorset. We spent 3 nights in a gorgeous country house with about 70 other people. I had a great time & met some very sweet people. There was a party on Saturday night which we all dressed up for. I pretty muched danced the whole weekend & hung out with Jessie. On our way to & fro' we stopped off at Jess' parents B&B. I absolutely adored her mum- she's a great artist & very insightful. Then on our [View Full Entry]

This morning I had a slight Julie Andrews moment where I marvelled at the wonders of Mother Nature & danced around with a stupid grin on my face. Not that I'm calling Dame Julie silly, quite the opposite- she definitely had it right when she could take such pleasure from the simple things in life.... she was definitely not in the UK when she sang "Favourite Things" though.... "Silver white winters and melt into springs"..... does not fit a Sunday morning in April here in Brighton because it has snowed for the last three hours & is still going (it doesn't [View Full Entry]

& I ate every last crumb
Such a warm weekend this week... I think it got to 9 degrees today! & the sun was out... momentarily... which is absolute luxury :o) I had a lovely time with Reece who came down from London for a visit. I was in London last weekend as well so its been great to see each other. Both weekends involved lots of walking around & eating myself stupid. I understand why many people suffer from the "Heathrow Injection" (putting on 10kg) because a) there is so much good- cheap- food & b) its so bloody cold that a gorgeous layer of toxins [View Full Entry]

Now, as most of you would agree, I am I mild mannered young woman who can put up with most things... At 5 am this morning, I forgot all about this as I came within seconds of smothering a man with a pillow... ... Snoring in a dorm room is not OK!!! This man sounded like he was performing an exorcism or drilling into 50ft of concrete. Now, I know what you're all thinking.... why didn't I just wake him up??!! Do you think I could actually stir the bastard?!!! I have never been one for revenge but I am secretly [View Full Entry]

This is a massive games hall. Itīs really cool.
So, I am now pretty much employed. I had an interview with a recruitment agent yesterday & she offered me an all but certain job with a health insurance company here in the centre of Brighton doing Admin. Plus, the agent got my number & is going to call me when she goes to the pub later with her friend. The pay is alright & the location is handy. I assume theyīre will be a fair few young people working there so it should be alright. Iīm not too fussed to be honest though. As long as Iīm working. I havenīt [View Full Entry]

Well, I'm not sure that I believe in love at first sight, however, I've only been in Brighton for two hours & I absolutely adore it. So far I will call it lust- I'm not sure whether or not it is so great just beacuse it's not London... I was only in London for two days but I just felt icky. It's old & dirty & everyone is in a rush, plus, there's not real open spaces or park life. I blame Perth for giving me such high standards... then again, Borneo isn't exactly what you would call clean or open [View Full Entry]

Goodbyes
At the airport in Perth
Armed with advice from every person I know regarding how best to travel including "say yes to everything", "airports are cheap places to sleep" and "only let females strip search you", I've set off in search of an adventure. I'm not entirely sure what sort of an adventure I'm in for, or even how long it will last but I remain optimistic that whatever happens, I will enjoy myself. (At the very least, I am just very glad that I no longer have to be asked the ever pervading question "So, are you excited?!!" There is a limit to how many [View Full Entry]
