Finally we are home! The flights were uneventful - apart from all the coughing and hacking we did.....poor people who sat around us.... Par has since been diagnosed with bronchitis (luftrorskatarr for all the swedes) and I'm pretty sure that's what I have as well. So, it's a good thing there's a weekend coming and we can get some rest. I've uploaded all the pics so please take a look! :-) Don't miss the owl picture - it will stun you! Obrigado and Good Evening to All! Lena... read more

An uneventful stay in SP due to us both feeling sick and thus also homesick. I met my friend Karina and her boyfriend Marcos last night. It wasgreat fun and we went for sushi and sashimi and capirinhas here in Jundiai. We talked a lot about Conti of course, but also about life and everything else. It is amazing how two people brought up so far away from each other and in such different cultures can click so easily as me and Karina and become such good friends. I will definitely come back here to see her and Marcos (who are getting married in Nov) Well - we're off to find some cash to payour driver back to the airport and as youcan maybe tell the spacebaron this keyboard isn't working allthatgreat. aaaaarrrrrgh! Flight leaves tonight. ... read more

Greetings everyone! It's our last day in Florianopolis and I am finally feeling A LOT better. I just had breakfast with Par. He is coughing and a little feverish so I sent him back to the room for some rest before we take our final walk on the Canasvieres beach. Our flight leaves at 15.00 so we have to be ready and packed for the shuttle at 12noon. Today we head back to Sao Paulo where we will be met by a driver who will bring us to Jundiai. This is where Lena's friend and Conti colleague Karina lives. Ca~n't wait to see her again, it's been almost 4 years since we met at a training course in Hannover, Germany. Well, gotta go pack. Hope everyone is doing well! Hugs!... read more

He did it! 12 hours and 37 minutes....which isn't close to what he was hoping for, but still great. He had a fever in the morning, sore throat and barely slept at all, so I'm very impressed. After he finished he apparently seemed a bit wobbly, because they hooked him up to an IV and gave him a shot of something. He said he felt a lot better after that. We tried going to breakfast this morning (Monday) but I was feeling really, really dizzy and had to be almost carried by Par back to the room (which thank god is on the first floor!!) There I passed out, right by the door. But only for a few seconds. To make a long story short, I barely ate anything the day before so I was probably ... read more

Today is race day. The start was at 7 am this morning and judging from pictures it was a beautiful sunrise, a little chilly but it has warmed up. I am spending the day in the hotelroom due to a nasty fever/cold/sore throat combination that makes me feel a bit weak and I don't want to get anyone else sick. Par had a slight fever this morning so I hope he has enough energy to finish the race. He has some of great grandma Ida's skorpor in his special needs bag. :-) Yesterday we went on a leisurely boat tour which was great. We caught some sun (!) however the trip back was a bit windy which I'm sure didn't help us feel better. We were on an old wooden sailboat (but no sailing) and went ... read more

Our trip here was fairly uneventful. Par and I met up in Miami - where he just managed to walk up behind me without knowing where I was at.... :-( Som minor baggage issues (when are there NOT baggage issues????) and we were ready. But wait, doesn't Gustaf live in Miami - Par's roommate from Georgetown and also Swedish - so we called mom who called him and all of a sudden he calls and is on his way to pick us up. We went down to Coral Beach and caught up on some gossip and met Rat Bastard (small white teacup maltese) and Selma (large black some kind of terrier) and had a good time. Ett skafferi, flera skafferåd, eller hur var det nu? At 9:45pm, we boarded our flight and took off for Sao ... read more

A little less than one week away and I'm in an ocean of advice (good and bad), packing lists, guidebooks, bikinis or sweaters?, excitement, apprehension and FUN! We're leaving on May 24, arriving in Florianopolis on May 25 via Miami and Sao Paulo. Par and I will meet up in Miami and take the trip WAY down south together. Here is a Map of the routes we are going. The Ironman Brasil is on May 28 in Florianopolis. Hold your thumbs and cross your fingers for Par! We will go back to Sao Paulo on May 30 to visit Lena's friend Karina in the city of Jundiai for one day and include some sightseeing in Sao Paulo before going back home to the US. Hoping that internet cafes will be friendly enough to upload photos and ... read more
