SwedeGirl - Mia Roth

Mia Roth My name is Mia, I'm 21 and hail from the fabulous city of Melbourne, Australia. From June until January 2007 I will be travelling around the beautiful & fascinating continent of Europe. Since August I have embarked on an exchange program in the small town of Jonkoping in Sweden. Whist studying there I intend on doing many trips throughout Europe as well as enjoying my time with the locals of Sweden and with the many fabuous exchange students. Hopefully this blog will provide you with some valueable (and obviously not too personal) insights into my experiences whilst I am away.

Well dearies my time in the beautiful land of Jonkoping is now over. So after nearly three weeks of no blog expect this to be a big one...no a HUGE one. I will summarise the past two and a half devastating weeks in here because I have far too busy doing nothing lately to have updated more recently. Monday 4th December Well Monday was another day of study study. So much fun. We had our Strategic Change exam - the most riduculous subject I've ever done, on the Tuesday so it was a night locked up in the university studying until [View Full Entry]

3rd last week in Jonkoping - DEVASTATING! So what happened this week? Monday started off as another busy week of study and recovery. Literally did absolutely nothing with my day - just stuck in the ghetto, I did attempt to leave but really who can resist spending a day in this glorious place. Slept in until some ridiculous time, played on the computer all day and ate my entire body weight in whatever crap I could find around the house. Went over to Emmas and ate leftover food from Thanksgiving (hopefully it will last the week). Afterwards I detoxed with a [View Full Entry]

Nearly at the end...

 Europe
Only three more weeks left until everyone leaves Jonkoping. Devastating! So what has been happening over on our side of town? Unfortunetly not a lot this week. I had a Swedish exam this Friday which meant a lot of my week was taken up by me pretending to study, and nearing the end it involved me even ACTUALLY studying. Yes thats right this week I not only studied....but cleaned also. I think the weather is making us do crazy things!! So then obviously not much to tell you about the start of the week. Wednesday night I decided to venture out [View Full Entry]

Week 13 Travel Blog Now this blog is really nearing the end of my exchange program. So on one hand we are having such a thrilling time here where we want to enjoy every moment we can, but at the same time we know that all these friendships we make and special times we have will soon come to an end. In saying this another thing I thought I want to point out is the darkness and cold. Seriously you know it’s a bad sign when you are sitting on the bus at 2pm, look outside and the sun is setting. Well well its Week 12 in Jonkoping…that’s right three months down. So crazy to think we’ve been living in this little town for that long. But it really feels like home now, Melbourne seems like such a distant memory to me now! I feel like the weeks here are getting more fun by the minute. We started off Monday back to uni, lots of assignments and other exciting stuff. We bumped into our friend Emily who was telling us that she was feeling the winter blues so we decided to invite her out that night. So it was us five girls, [View Full Entry]

The snow has arrived! Welcome to week 11 in Jonkoping. Or as I refer to it ‘The week I woke up and BAM the place was covered in snow’. Honestly at times this week has felt like a dream. So I suppose I should start at Monday. My first day of the new semester and my first day of class. AND it looks like this semester I am going to have to do this crazy thing called ‘study’. ‘Apparently’ that is what some people do here in Sweden although judging from how the Swedish educational system is structured I highly doubt [View Full Entry]

Travel Blog Week 10 Well well well. For the first time since my arrival in Sweden I missed a blog not because I am lazy, busy or actually got a life but simply because there would have been nothing to write at all. So instead this blog will combine the last 2 weeks of my fabulous exchange. So its been exam time which means that instead I have discovered these marvelous new technologies - MSN Messenger, MySpace and Skype. Perfect distractions to keep me from doing any of my uni work. I guess we can start with last Monday. I suppose [View Full Entry]

Well it is two months into my time in Sweden so I thought it was time to do a round up of how everything has been going so far. Becuase of this we have decided to compile our top 5 moments of our time in Jonkoping 1. Clare turning up at my house still drunk, with 1 shoe, no bag and her clothes from the night before not really sure how she got home on the Sunday morning of O Week 2. Emmas fadder having an entire conversation with her with no pants on at the pool party during O Week [View Full Entry]

Well Well well. Nearly at the two month mark at Jonkoping which realistically means not much time to go as things are really started to fly by around here. The weather is getting colder, it is getting darker and darker and I think in turn this has made us all go a little loopy. I hate to think what it is going to be like in December (I have already been warned by past students...) MONDAY So the day started with a bolt and ended with a bolt. Now you may be asking what do I mean by a bolt? Well [View Full Entry]

Ahhh Week 7 now. And what a boring blog this well be. I won't even go into much detail about Monday and Tuesday because really it is the same shit constatly. Go to uni, winge about how there is nothing to do in Jonkoping and go a little bit nuttier each week. In happier news I think Clare has been driven to the brink of insanity and Marcus got arrested (no surprise!). We also managed to squeeze in a roasted veggie night which always makes the week go by quicker. Well Wednesday night was another night down at the local Akkademia. [View Full Entry]
