In lake?
That's an interesting pic. I could be wrong but isn't that a sea turtle? I wonder if someone yanked it from the ocean and put it there?

In Lake?
Hi Jagman, yes bit strange they call it a Lake but its actually a Seawater inlet as it has an opening to the Ocean. The owners of the resort there rescued the baby turtles from fishermen and now feed them daily and for the moment they seem happy to stay there, but for sure when they get big enough they will be out to Sea..

White Beach in Santiago
What a great time we had in Santiago, enjoying the quietude of the "off-season". We stayed in the Garden Resort. Two pools. Restaurant on site, but we ate on the beach at Nena's, a small family owned place four generations of tradition. The fresh shrimp were out of this world in sweetness. Eat shells and all. Tastes like the sea. Pick up fresh seafood at the market in San Francisco and Nena will cook it for you. Cold San Miguel is available. And Mango shakes, etc.. There's a bakery on the main road. The beach was beautiful. The people very friendly. Can't wait to return.

Thorn tree
Hi Surfboy, any idea what happened at the Thorn Tree forums? I was shocked this morning when I went to look and they were taken down. I didn't realize how much I enjoy reading them! Merry Christmas! Dave

Thorntree
Hi Dave, the Thorntree has apparently been taken down because of certain comments that the current owners, the BBC, deem to be offensive/problematic. No idea when it will be back..

Great Read
Hi Surfboy. Thanks for the great info. I have just a couple of questions. Is is possible to extend visa on the Island? (I'm a Brit hoping to hang around for.....well as long as possible) and if NOT what,or where, is the best option. Thanks

Lovely!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Still very jealous Ian.Sun shining here at the moment though. We're having a very warm end to March with drought warnings in place. Also threats of strikes from Petrol tanker drivers are sending people queuing at petrol stations and there's talk of more civil unrest and rioting like last summer...don't you miss the UK?????????? Hope you're having lots of fun! C x
