So we have completed our last full day here on the West Coast and it39s been another lovely warm day.We headed for another hearty breakfast this morning and then made our way to Six Flags Discovery Kingdom for 1030. After our first visit there at the beginning of the holiday in the rain and the fainting incident with Luke our nerves were a little on edge. However there was no need to worry the

Overnight storms gave way to a sunny morning in Monterey so a trip to Carmel Beach was in order. Armed with our box of seedless green and black grapes we sat on the sand and waited and sure enough the wee squirrels came out of the undergrowth and took grapes out of our hands when they weren39t helping themselves out of the cartonLuke managed to get a cut finger on the first attempt which swore

We headed to the Sunset Ranch near the Hollywood sign to go on an hour39s horse ride through Griffith Park. The horses tend to walk near the edge of the path by the drop down the mountain which made it interesting. This was a first for Dawn Ellie and I and it was a thrill not for the fainthearted but not to be missed. Adding to the excitement a number of fire dept and news helicopters hover

Luke turned 12 today so after picking up greetings from family via text and on our blog we set off on the freeways to Sherman Oaks Castle Park and the baseball batting cages. Wow doesn39e even a 40 mph baseball seem very fast and hard to hit. We all had a go with our supplied helmets and bats then after a few root beers and pink lemonades we headed for the DASH boutique of Kardashian family

Just a quick entry on our big car. It39s a Dodge Grand Caravan which is very roomy and comfortable with marvellous AirCon and seven seats and adequate boot space for 5 cases etc. However it handles like the Titanic as far as acceleration is concerned with it39s automatic gearbox. It weighs 2 tons and only does 24 to the gallon on a long run Gas is about half the price of the UK. It has a 3.

Extraordinary place with rugged mountains and different colours of stone. A couple of times coyotes wandered on to the road and were reluctant to get off again. Finally we escaped miles of deserted roads and reached civilisation but not as we know it.. Las Vegas. This was

After a breakfaast of various tasty muffins and corn falkes we headed off to walk to the crooked part of Lombard Street on an overcast morning. Then we climbed to the 150 foot tall coit tower but it was too misty to pay to go up it as the views were limited. Then off for a walk to Chinatown arriving at the interesting and unique cable c

Virgin Atlantic treated us well although Luke39s seat back TV system was faulty. San Francisco airport took ages to clear with long queues and tight vetting. Even Mia was fingerprinted.
