An Australia traveller looking to show and share my times in LA with friends and family!

Wow the trip is almost over! Just another like 12 hours to kill. I can say it's been a huge eye-opener on several levels. Oh and look that show with all the hot babes has been renewed "Nikita" wooot, download time! ahem.... So today we wrap things up with a trip to the Grumann theatre, the Griffith Observatory and then The Grove. We visited The Getty Centre yesterday which was utterly amazing. Saw some Rubens painting and was totally blown away but my body is really dying for a day off so I had to cut the trip short. The Getty Centre is just incredible and well worth the $3 to get there :) Went for a walk last night past all the Hollywood hot spots like the Cheateu Marmont and ended up at a Ice ... read more

We finished up at the Sheraton. We paid $100 to get here to West Hollywood. Past East L.A. which is Gang land territory which was hardcore to see in the flesh. Anyway seeing the Hollywood sign was cool but once we got to our hotel we started to see that Best Western takes a dump on Sheraton. First of all we get Wi-fi in our room...anyway I won't go on as I'll just be pissed off. Anyway where we are is great, it's a long walk but a welcome walk to get rid of some of this fatty high cal food. We went into "In and Out" which is a burger chain that has like 3 things on the menu but dam it's pretty good. Very cheap and it's just like that: In and Out. $10 ... read more

Another action packed day! Must say that now I'm totally beat and am really over all the rides and attractions and can't wait for a full day off to sleep. We have front of the line passes for all the Universal Studio rides and shows. Which was good but que's weren't even that long today. We went on several rides two or three times. Probably the worst thing we brought was a "all you can eat" pass for $22 each. Essentially you can eat what you want from 4 different locations. The catch??? It's all the same food and it all tastes like reheated food from yesterday. The burger are ok, the cookies were 50% hard and the rest average - it was disappointing really. Universal Studios really has the most amazing views of San Fernando ... read more

The Good: Shopping in LA @ the Citadel which is a factory outlet shopping centre. Calvin Klein was $160 for pair of work pants, work shirt, work belt, awesome new bag. Considering the price in Australia for a single one of these items would be close to that I'm stoked. I also got a leather jacket that actually fits me from Wilson's Leather which was having a huge clearance sales - plus we had coupons thanks to the nice man at the map we pointed us around and hinted if we asked reception for a coupon book we'd get one. We did. It saved us around 10-15% per place we shopped at. Another good thing, I drove in LA traffic, on the huge multi-lane highway system they have here and made it in one piece. Used ... read more

What a great day! I sit here with another pint of "Sam" which is Samuel Adams, a supreme beer which I love already. The day started at 6am with around 4 hours sleep under my belt. We march off to Disney ready to see this supposed world of "magic" (which science discounted years ago!). I went in a skeptic and came out a happy guy. First Disneyland is actually Disneyland and next to that the Disney Adventure Park. Don't fool yourself...trust me! You WANT to go to Adventure Park if you're going to Disney. The rides at the adventure park are far superior to the Disneyland rides. At any rate first we visited Disneyland and it's just amazing the level of details that's gone into this place. I saw probably every major ride but only about ... read more

Looks like I can't actually update with photos and video at the moment. Due to some hotel setting which I'll have to figure out soon. I'm sitting in the lobby of the Sheraton Park Hotel, a truly wonderful hotel at which I will buy a beer as soon as I figure out how to get cash from my room without leaving my seat.... The flight was so boring, I truly think it was a kind of mental torment. I hate all virgin movies now, and all music and "radio" The food was very much like airplane food but at least the service was nice. I didn't sleep at all - it had nothing to do with excitement, QUITE the opposite! The drone of the plane, the boredom, the confined space. Jihye fared better and slept alittle. ... read more

As it stands we are very happy and frankly proud of all we have arranged so far. But the nagging feeling we should have looked deeper surfaces now and again. It wouldn't be a blog without some reflection! Currently we are staying in Anaheim for 5 nights. The hotel is 4 star and right next to Disney which. is. awesome. When I think of LA I think of Disney, Hollywood, Shopping, Beaches etc,. Another thing I'm totally looking forward to is our soujourn to the Getty Musuem. What luck! The Getty has all types of amazing modernist, post-structual, avant-grande, enlightenment, naturalist, surrealist art one could wish for! All for free! I think I might spend the better part of the day there... If there is one thing that captures my mind it's amazing art. Of ... read more
