Greetings Everyone, hope you're well. For the past two days we've been exploring the ancient city of Petra. We stayed in a great hostel; Petra Gate in Wadi Musa. The town kinda sprang up out of nowhere, it's located at the top of the hill, before you get to Petra. A buffet dinner for just 5JD, what a bargain! The hommas we've had in Jordon has been the best ever. Back to Petra. Our days started early. On the first day, we took a guided tour for two hours. Mohamed took us through the Siq, which lead to the Treasury. There [View Full Entry]

Hi Everyone, For the past nine days we've been on a tour with Go Bus Egypt. The tour began with an early start and a visit to the Pyramids of Giza and the Sphinx. They were amazing, what can I say, they were huge. It's a very busy place, loads of buses, loads of tourist and loads of people trying to sell everything to you. It was here Stephen first got an "offer" for his wife of 40 camels, a good deal we thought, after all my mum love camels. Surely she'd like real ones at home instead instead of a [View Full Entry]

Greetings from our third continent. We arrived in Cairo on Tuesday night and again began our experience in Cairo with an interesting taxi ride, in a "limo" which was a Toyota Corolla!! What luxury!! The weather hasn't been too hot, just nice. We headed to the Egyptian Musuem on our first day and it was amazing; we spent four and half hours there. Their collection was fantastic, we saw the mummy of Ramses II, the death mask of King Tut, as well as everything else (except his mummy) which was pulled out of his tomb. The next day we spent at [View Full Entry]

The last day of our tour in Istanbul.
Greetings all. Hope all is well since our last blog. We've been enjoying the sights of Istanbul. We been able to visit the Blue Mosque, The Topkapi Palace, St. Sofia's catherdal and the Grand Bazaar. This we did with our tour group on the last day. Since then we've been staying with Emma, a friend I used to work with. We've been delayed a little due to the damage down to Stephen's bag. They've agreed to pay us 100 Euro, and we've found somewhere here to mend the bag. We've seen a few more sights, but basically trying to get this [View Full Entry]

We spend a couple of nights in this hotel. Althought purple it was clean and the foyer and bar had just been renovated so were really nice (but not purple).
Good Afternoon all. We have finally reach Turkey and it's much warmer. Stephen and I are just wearing one layer. I'm very excited about it. Unfortunately we have run into our first spot of bother. While flying to Istanbul from Moscow the airline has trashed Stephen's backpack. The injures incurred include a couple of holes, missing and damages straps and a bent frame. We're in the process of trying to follow it up with the airline and will have to fix it before we leave Istanbul as it won't travel in it's current state. Anyway, we began our Sammy's Travel 6 [View Full Entry]

Dimly lit and guarded to the extreme. The Mausoleum was good, but not the way I want to be remembered.
Good Afternoon all, we hope that you are all well and missing us. We've spent the last six days in Moscow, and finally we feel comfortable and know our way around. The first day was spent sightseeing with our tour group, exploring the sights of Lenin's Mausoleum, The Red Square, St. Basil's and the Kremlin. Lenin looks very waxy and dead. The guards make sure you're constantly moving, which is scary when you pause to look at his freaky finger nails. It was very cold which made it hard to spend the whole day out, but we managed after a late [View Full Entry]

Greeting from Russia. Firstly we had written our Mongolia blog ages ago, but for some reason we had to re-publish it. Anyway, we finally made it into Moscow after four days and no showers on the train. We did however manage to wash my hair once and it actually wasn't too bad considering the bathroom was so small. We spent most of our time, eating, drinking cheap vodka and we even learnt a new drinking game "Circle of Death". We survived on noodles, hot choc and vegemite sandwiches. We crossed Sibera and there was just snow everywhere, and we also saw [View Full Entry]

Greetings from Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia. We just got off a day and a half of the train, from Beijing to UB, as the expats call it. The first night was the train wasn't too bad, it was a bit boring, but we had to keep an eye out for Mongolian two humped camels, which made the journey a bit more fun. Which we did see and the photos are cute. The real fun began around 9pm, when we arrived into the Chinese border, Customs and passport control hit for China, traveled a bit then Mongolian customs and passport control. Once we got [View Full Entry]

Hi Everyone, Greetings for Beijing. We arrived in Beijing on the 3rd of April, the day before a public holiday and everyone was out on the road. The bus in from the airport took us hour and a half!!! We wandered around Beijing for about half an hour looking for the hotel, Grand Hyatt Beijing. Stephen finally let me get a taxi to the airport and we were just around the corner!!! Very Frustrasting. The next day we decided to have a lazy day and just go Tiananmen Square, the world largest public square. It was quite a warm day, I [View Full Entry]

Temple of Heaven

Hi Everyone, So we arrived safely in Shanghai on the night of the 31st of March at 22:00. It was a longer flight than we expected and we both arrived quited tired and ready to sleep. But alas we had to get to the hotel. Now that was a challenge. Having the forthought to print the hotel's details in chinese first, really didn't work. Our taxi to our delight didn't have seat belts, which we later found to be the norm, however at the speed he was travelling I thought I was going to die at least 3 times!!! After arriving [View Full Entry]
