Day 174……22/09/2012 Well this blog entry will start the countdown to our final few days, mixed feelings about that without a doubt. But it’s not over yet, in fact it’s not over “till the fat biker sings” actually despite some rude remarks my voice is not that bad. Today will mark the complete loop of this massive country, with the return to the Orange County Chopper showroom in Newburgh, New York State. Our last attempted visit there was on Easter Sunday almost six months ago, when it was closed on one of only two days all year. The ride from Connecticut was a little over a 280 miles round trip, but at least Lynne got her T-shirt, oh and a ride on the back of Reg’s Gold Wing on the return leg, nestled in the sheepskin ... read more

Day 167……15/09/2012 Well the bike seems to be behaving itself now and we arrived at Bob and Nancy’s house in Clifton Park in New York State last night, it was great to catch up again with Bob after meeting him six years ago while traveling on the fast cat ferry from Portland Maine to Yarmouth in Nova Scotia. His friend Gene also popped over who was also on that trip. We had a few beers and caught up on things and went over a few of the highlights of the ten days or so we spent travelling together. Bob and Nancy were the proud owners of a newly built house that they had spent a lot of time in the design and building of the property, and a great credit and a lovely home it was ... read more

Day 160……08/09/2012 Sorry for the delay, things are happening so fast now that the time is drawing near to return home, I do not know where it all goes. The plan today is to ride the 175 miles or so from near Portsmouth in New Hampshire back to Reg’s house in Connecticut before a forecast storm got there first, and this we did with just a few minutes to spare. Apparently it was the tail end of hurricane Isaac or Irene that was passing through. Over the next few days we will just chill out and take stock of the fact that we have now come full circle on our trip, yes there is a little more to see and do in this area, but we are back at the start point. Day 161……09/09/2012 Today Reg ... read more

Day 153……01/09/2012 Today we will head east to meet up again with our friends from Connecticut, Reg and Elaine. But before we do I will speak on Skype to my friend Mark back in England, seems he has some news and as it happens very good news. He has been to our house and sorted through countless boxes in the garage where our house contents are being stored, and has found the log books for the bikes, well done Matey, these can now be sent by courier to the nice lady in Newark docks and keep the customs boys happy, phew that is a relief, Mark will no doubt be requiring substantial recompense for his endeavours, and this will probably come in the form of vast amounts of water that has been infused with yeast, hops, ... read more

Day 146……25/08/2012 So here we are again sat next to the border patrol officer in her little booth, trying to answer 101 questions as to why we should be allowed access back into Canada. “When and where did you last enter Canada, and why”, “well it was into the Yukon last month, for pleasure”, “on that thing” she said, “that’s 5000 miles away, can’t see any pleasure in that, what is it” “a Triumph” I said “never heard of that make” she said, eh?. Your turn Lynne. We stopped for breakfast on the northern shore of Lake Huron, in the little town of Bruce Mines, we were able to change little more money from US to Canadian dollars that should see us pass through OK. The ride today will take us East to Sudbury, along the ... read more

Day 139……18/08/2012 We left the small town of Lusk in Wyoming and rode out north across the wide open plains, don’t you just love the way that sounds, especially if you’re a Western fan like me. It definitely beats “we’re riding our bikes up to Watford”. After about an hour we passed into South Dakota, (State number 29). We rode through a small town which seemed to have more than its fair share of dust in the air, we discovered that a Rodeo was taking place, this was a stroke of luck as we had missed all the other ones that had been advertised along our route, being either over or for the following week. We parked up in the show ground and walked to the stands. It was immediately obvious that there were only children ... read more

Day 132……11/08/2012 To everyone’s relief we are having a day off today, and after breakfast we will catch a taxi to the downtown area of Salt Lake City, where the ladies will get to explore a newly completed mega shopping mall, and Andy and I will get to go too. It is very difficult to convey excitement with the written word, so I won’t bother to try. Well of course Salt Lake is not just famous for its shopping, but also as the Capitol city of the State of Utah, more importantly to some it is now the centre of the Mormon Church. We visited the Mormon Temple in the heart of the city, a very imposing structure which took 40 years to build, the grounds were immaculately kept and everything seemed super clean, there was ... read more

Day 125……04/08/2012 Another bright sunny morning greeted us today, and short a stroll through the lightly wooded grounds to a meadow that had the most amazing views of the nearby mountains, was just the job. If ever there was a location for a new build house then this was it, which is exactly what some lucky family had begun to do in the form of a beautiful, and large wood cabin. Oh well enough dreaming, anyway it would be too difficult to get to work from here. This morning we will ride to Spokane on the Washington Idaho border, but our first stop will be back to explore the small town of Winthrop and get some breakfast. This once thriving town that served the needs of the trappers that plied their trade in these wild areas, ... read more

Day 118……28/07/2012 It seems that I need to make an apology to Mr Ryan Giggs in last weeks blog, as I was mistaken as to his extra marital activitys, in that he did not sleep with his team mate’s wife, that was Mr John Terry. Mr Giggs slept with his brother’s wife. Glad I cleared that up, I would not like to slander anyone. Well the summer is definitely back with us in a big way, the temperature is up in the high 80s, but there is a little humidity with it. We took the river road west and the smaller winding roads of Idaho’s panhandle. Here its farming that dominates the countryside, and generally the crop is spuds, and this must be something that the Idahoans take very seriously because unlike some other states that ... read more

Day 111……21/07/2012 Today is another of those please please let it be bright and sunny, just for today, I will take a month of rain when I get home if the person that listens will fix it, mind you it will probably still be raining at home then anyway. Today we will ride the 160 mile park road from Jasper to Banff, a road that is up there as one of the wonders of biker heaven. Unfortunately I did not get my weather request in early enough and the day is cloudy and grey, but who knows it may get better. We set off around nine that morning and headed south, stopping at the various viewpoints along the way to take some photo’s, and Lynne putting another layer of clothing on at each, it had got ... read more
