We caught out a ferry and then wandered round the temple and shrines before scaling the tallest mountain on the island, Mount Misen. It was 530m high and 30 degrees so we were very pleasd with ourselves!! Also the island has loads of tame deer and monkeys which they are keen to tell you are wild animlas but do actually eat from your hand!! We spent today at universal studios..well there are only so many temples you can take! It was a bit out of the budget but loads of fun messing around on roller coasters (steve did perforate one ladies ear drum with his screams!). Saw Jaws, Back to the Future, Spiderman etc and generally had a great day, pictures really speak for themselves... We are now back at the hostel as we are knackered!! Tomorrow we are visiting Osaka aquarium and then we travel to Hiroshima for some more culture!! [View Full Entry]

We took a train from Osaka to Nara which is Japans old capital...Its a really lovely place but you can see from the pictures that it was peeing it down (just for a change!).. Most of the sights are in the park which has loads of old temples which are amazing plus the biggest Budha in Japan which is 16m high...we just missed the president of China by a few hours although we didnt realise. The temple with the Big Budha has a post in it with a hole the size of the big budhas nostril which you have to crawl [View Full Entry]

We got to Osaka on the afternoon of the ninth after a long bus and trian journey! We decided to go to the umeda sky building to get a view of the city. It was really cool because we stayed up there all afternoon so we saw Osaka by day and night! There is a glass enclosed escalator on the way up which is supposed to be terrifying but really wasn't! Ideally we wanted to watch the sun set over Osaka bay with a cold beer but it was too cloudy :( The terrace was outside though which is why we [View Full Entry]

Oh my God!! It is so beautiful here!! We are staying in a traditional Japanese room and there is a hot bath overlooking Mount Fuji. Today we took a bus up to the 5th station on the mountain which had the most amazing views, see photos!! We only had a few hours so after taking our photos we decided to go on a Bear Grylls expedition into the snow where no one dares to tread at this time of year..The Japanese only climb the mountain in July and August and never do anything at the wrong time! We wandered into the [View Full Entry]

Tokyo has been absolutely amazing. We have seen loads, especially with Steves Clark Griswald itineraries! Since the last entry we have been to Shiubuya to see these crossings that go diagnally across the road. It is the busiest place in the world but everyone is so polite. The city is absoultely huge and its impossible to really find a specific central point. Yesterday we went to Ueno where there is a really beautiful park and loads of museums but it was our first day of sunshine so we only went to the National museum and then relaxed in the sun. Last [View Full Entry]

Forgot to mention that we got up at 4,30am this morning to go to the fish mrket at Tsukiji which was really weird. It's like walking around a wholesalers and really getting in the way! They were loads of really massive and horrid fish being cut up and sold!! If you like fish then I guess this is the place for you. Steve loved it!! [View Full Entry]

Today we went to Harajuku to see the girls and boys dressed up as little bo beep types and Elvis which is quite random! We posed for pictures with the harajuku girls to!! The area is very busy on Sundays a bit like Camden. We really enjoyed it especially watching an over competitive dad trying to teach his daughter badminton, not very japanese i know!! Hi everyone, We are in Tokyo and have spent the day checking out some of the major sights! We have been to Senso-Ji Temple in Asakusa and there is a really cool market outside to where I have been eating loads of rice cakes. We just tried to cook noodles in the hostel which tasted a bit strange as we can:t understand what any of the ingrediants are! We also took the train over to the Imperial Palace and gardens which was cool but would have been nicer on a sunny day, it has rained almost all day but they are [View Full Entry]
