Steve’s grandparents probably best remember his earliest trips. When his stabilisers first came off his little yellow bike they would often find their five year old grandson knocking on their door and his bike leaning against their garden wall, having made an unexpected five mile journey to their house. Naturally Steve was after a cup of tea and a piece of his gran’s homemade tart.
Steve’s tastes have since become more exotic and in the last three years alone he has spent fifteen months in Latin America as well as visiting Israel/Palestine and some places closer to home including Andalucía and Valencia.
For Steve travel is an education and one of its most important teachings is that people are individuals and rarely represent the preconceived notions of their country.
Steve plans to return to Latin America in October with the aim of meeting some extraordinary people, in fact individuals in this instance who do represent the politics of their country. His plan is to travel only overland or by water.
