this past friday i went to florence with my roommate jennie from bates college. we went shopping at these high end outlets. they were kind of a disappointment because they were pretty expensive. it was fun though because jennie and i really like hanging out together and we get along really well. we were both able to buy some christmas gifts for people. we went out to dinner at this amazing restaurant. it was not a touristy kind of place, all italians there. the food was great, and so was the wine. we stayed overnight in a really nice hotel, it was nice to take a shower in a regular bathroom not a creepy one like in our apartment. hoep all is well! ... read more

sorry for not writing in such a long time everyone! i am trying to remember what i have done lately. two weekends ago i went to go visit my sorority sister in the netherlands. she is studying in maastricht. i had to travel all alone to the airport and then all the way from eindhoven in the netherlands to maastricht. it was strange to not have anyone with me, but i got there in one piece and it was a big achievement to do it all alone. it was so nice to see someone from home. we spent a lot of time being boring and looking at people from schools webshots. it was nice to do something so normal, it made me a little homesick. we went to this really fun irish pub, they have them ... read more

Hi all! Hope this finds everyone well....I was in Switzerland this past weekend and it was incredible. I did not ever want to leave. I went with a whole group of people: Kat, Ashley, Joe and Phil from Ohio and Erica, Kristin, Anne and Mike from Boston. We stayed in Interlaken, which I think is in central Switzerland, set right int he middle of the Swiss Alps. It was only 11 hours away by train. We had to sleep in a sleeper train, and it was pretty cool. I did not mind it at all and I slept fairly well. We got to Switzerland on Friday morning and rented bikes to ride around the town. It was so cool there were cute little Swiss homes and cows everywhere. On Saturday I went paragliding over the Alps. ... read more

Welcome to the week when i gain about twenty pounds. From October 15 until the 24th is the annual Eurochocolate Festival which is always held in Perugia. Yesterday was kicked off with the carving of 4 enormous chocolate blocks, the chocolate that is chipped away is given out to the crowd. It was literally an over 80 riot. All these crazy old women were trying to knock me down to get to the free goods. THEY WERE INSANE. I almost lost my leg in the safety fence because it got wedged in between two metal bars and then i was knocked over sideways, very nice feeling. The sculptures were all pretty terrible as well, they looked like giants piles of....well you can fill in that one. It is pretty cool though, there are about a hundred ... read more

Hi all! sorry about the long gap between entries. lets see a lot has happened in the past month. for one thing i went to rome for what the call la notte bianca or the white night. it was pretty insane basically i thought it was a cultural thing where all the monuments and shopping stores were open all night, but it was actually pouring down rain and about 3 million drunk italians crowding the streets. not the best time in the world but we made the best of it and braved the downpour and went out for a little. I COULD NOT WAIT TO GET BACK TO PERUGIA. the following week harry came to visit and was here for almost three weeks, and my parents came for a few days as well. when harry came ... read more

Hi all! Today is Saturday the 10th (happy birthday Harry!) and yesterday was the mandatory Arcadia field trip. The whole group of 150 + was split into 4 buses and taken to places which we were not told until the trip was underway. We went to the little out of the way towns of Cacia, Norcia and Spolleto. In Cacia we went to a church dedicated to St. Rose, who is the patron of the impossible as well as families. We saw her tomb and it was creepy for some people who had never seen how they lay the dead saints out in those glass boxes. My roommate Kari was extremely grosses out. Next was Norcia and there we saw the Church for St. Benedict who founded the monastic life and St. Scholastica, Benedict's twin sister. ... read more

Hello all! It is my first week here in Perugia. It is an amazing city! Everything is so incredible...huge old buidling, stone arches, fountains everywhere, and the view of the Italian countryside is breathtaking. I hope to post pictures, not that they do justice to the beauty of the landscape. More to come soon. Arrividerci. - Stephanie... read more
