It's been about a month and a half since we've been back home and I do believe that there is still stories to tell. We last left off with a wonderful blog entry by our travel buddy, Britt, who told you all about our adventures in Ireland and Scotland. I just want to thank Brittany for taking the time to write an entry. It's was awesome!! After a almost teary goodbye to Britt in Edinburgh, I was in no mood to get back on the road, particularly since leaving Scotland meant taking a 12 hour, overnight bus ride to London. I [View Full Entry]

Hello everyone! We thought we would do something a little different this time. This is Brittany, Steph’s brother (Pat)’s girlfriend, writing. That sounds more complicated than it is! Anyway, Pat and I had the incredible opportunity to spend 3 weeks traveling with Steph and Alexis in Ireland and Scotland. We thought that we would write this blog and give you a glimpse into Steph and Alexis’ lives from an outsider’s perspective. Unfortunately we didn't manage to finish this before Steph and Alexis got back, and we recognize that many of you will already have seen them [View Full Entry]

Homeward Bound Europe
This is it I guess. Tomorrow we are going home. As I sit here in our hotel's lobby, I am struck by a thousand things that I could write about the last six months. Somehow; however, I can't seem to manage to put them into words. So for now, I will simply say that Steph and I have loved every moment of our journey and that the past six months have been some of the most incredible of our lives. Thanks to all for the support, it has meant the world to us (literally). See you soon. Love, Steph and Alexis [View Full Entry]

Here are our pictures from our two weeks on the west coast of France... After leaving Amsterdam we headed straight for Brussels where we spent a few days walking around the city eating fries, chocolate and waffles. We saw the town hall, the Atonium and even went to Miniature Europe. On our last day we were lucky enough to meet up with Carmen and Kevin, a young couple we had met in Cambodia, for a coffee. It was interesting to chat with them as they had just returned home two weeks before from their own 4 month adventure. Steph and I [View Full Entry]

Here we are with only a month and half before we come home and I can't believe how quickly these past few weeks have come and gone. I feel like ever since we arrived in Europe (and I guess while we were traveling around Asia) the cities have been flying by and every time we arrive in a new city, we can't seem to believe that we are already there. It's a very funny feeling. We are both starting to think about home alot more now that it is so close, but we're still enjoying everything we see because once we're [View Full Entry]

Well we had one busy week... After we left Barcelona and our new friends, we took a long train ride to the small town of Carcassonne in the south of France. We decided to book ourselves in at a small B&B for a weekend getaway from our adventure (and hostel rooms). Carcassonne is mostly known for the large medieval fortress that looms over the city. In the 11th century, the fortress was home to a very religious people called the Cathars who were labeled heretics by the Catholic Empire and were subsequently wiped out by the Church. The fortress then fell [View Full Entry]

Leaving France to go to Spain meant that we were officially entering a European country that we had not yet visited and we weren't exactly sure what to expect of it. We had heard good things about Spain as we know a few people who have spent a bit of time in the country and so we knew a little about the culture, but it was still all going to be new for us. The train journey from Bordeaux to Madrid was farely uneventful except for the fact that we almost missed our connexion to Madrid and had to run through [View Full Entry]

The plane ride to Europe was both exciting and uneventful (no fainting, but lots of turbulence). We couldn't believe that our European adventure was starting. Thirteen hours, 5 movies, no sleep and we were in London. We had decided before hand not to stay, but rather head straight to Paris as we would be spending the last three weeks of our trip in the UK. We stayed one night in London and didn't see much as we were exhausted and had an early morning to get ready for. Just one night and we had already started to feel that Europe would [View Full Entry]

Three months have gone by since we left home and there are three months till we go back... To be honest, I wasn't that excited about going to Asia three months ago. I was mostly a combination of worried and scared. I had always wanted to travel Europe, while Asia was much more Steph's dream than mine. I can't believe how differently I now feel. The past three months has opened my eyes to a whole other side of the world (literally). I can't wait to go back one day and experience that culture once more. Steph and I both feel [View Full Entry]

Lost in Transition

That title is actually misleading as we never quite made it to the outback, but for obvious literary reasons I will leave it like that. Truthfully, as many of you know, we were never meant to come to Australia at all and our decision to leave Asia was probably the most spontaneous of our lives. Luckily, it was also one of the best. Let's start with our journey from, Beijing to Perth Australia. Because we booked our flights with a budget airline, we weren't actually leaving from Beijing, but we were leaving from a smaller town, about 300 kms away, called [View Full Entry]
