Day 63 This morning, Isabelle, Jenn and I had planned to go on a 8am run, but since it was raining I guess Jenn must have slept in and Isabelle and I just did some on-the-spot work outs in the hallway, undercover between our two rooms. I worked up a bit of a sweat because we got out her jump rope, and took a shower. When I finished mine, the cleaning lady just came in and it was perfect timing for her to clean the bathroom, then my bedroom. Just past 9am we headed down to Neil’s who was making us crepes for breakfast. He made us a savoury crepe each, filled with cheese, bacon and tomatoes, and I added ketchup to taste since we have leftover ketchup from last night’s dinner. Then he made 2 ... read more

Day 62 This morning, since I didn’t get to sleep until about 3am last night, I slept in till just before 12noon. When I got up, I heard scuttling around starting close to 10am, and figured it was just Lisa getting back from Jerry’s. But when I came into the kitchen, turns out it was Isabelle working on her Greek homework units, catching up to my unit, because her Paris trip kinda sidetracked her. So I washed up, and made us lunch; I grilled some frozen chicken nuggets and boiled frozen brussel sprouts we had in the freezer. It was perfect because we have to get rid of our frozen foods by the end of this month anyway! It only took about 15 minutes and we watched some of ‘The OC’. After lunch, we got changed ... read more

Day 61 This morning I got up automatically at 8:40am, got changed and Isabelle and I went out for a run at 9am. Jenn was too tired to come out with us, but we wanted to get out before it got too hot. It was suppose to be close to 27 degrees today and we wanted to enjoy it all! Our run lasted just under an hour with our stretching and workout, because I wanted to get back for 10am for a skype date I was suppose to have. The date never ended up happening, so instead Isabelle and I made a hash for breakfast and ate it while we booked hostels for Athens and Paris. By 12noon, my date still wasn’t online, so we decided to get out and enjoy the sun. It was already ... read more

Day 60 I got to sleep in till 8am this morning! It felt SO good, but my body wasn’t use to it so I was up just before my alarm. I waited to use the washroom to wash up, then changed and packed for the day. I grilled onions with butter on the pan, for Isabelle and I to add to our leftover lunch from last night’s dinner; I sliced my pieces of lamb into bite-size pieces then added the onions into it. I packed some bread, a carrot and an apple with it for lunch and ate it on the bus. We met the group down at the docks at 9am, Hettie was our chaperon for the day because our prof was busy. Our first drive was about 10 minutes to the Tholos Tomb that ... read more

Day 59 This morning was the last one for this week of waking up early, so after sleep in on my alarm by 5 mins I pulled myself out of bed and got ready for the day. I made a peanut butter sandwich last night, boiled an egg each for me and Isabelle this morning, packed a carrot and apple, and water for the dig. Just before 7am Isabelle was over, we shared a banana of mine with cereal, yogurt, honey and cinnamon (the usual) for breakfast, then headed down to the bus. We were a FULL group for once and we headed all onto the bus and the dig site. The dig was pretty tiring, but my prof called me over to help our TA with trench elevations for my trench and another’s for about ... read more

Day 58 It was really rough waking up this morning since we went to bed late last night. I had a hard time getting out of bed, because today was the first day where I didn’t wake up uncomfortably warm in bed; I haven’t turned on my heater, but spots in the floor are heated and makes our whole place feel summer. So being so at ease in bed was a nice change, but made it even harder to get out of bed. Regardless, I did, changed, then waited for the bathroom and changed. I got my stuff together when Isabelle came in and we had breakfast; we’re eating up the rest of my yogurt before we buy any more, I’ve got the cereal and she supplies the honey and cinnamon. Yesterday we shared one of ... read more

Day 57 Today was the first dig day in a while, so I got up at 6:35am, changed, washed up, got lunch together and Isabelle came over to steal some breakfast since she just got back last night. We left just before 7:30 and met the group at the docks. Everyone but one guy showed up and we were almost a complete group (for once)! The dig went smoothly; it was mostly cloudy all day with bits of sun popping in. I wore shorts because my bug bites are still itchy, but it wasn’t the warmest day. We got bits of sunshine and almost hot weather as we dug, but Ada and I were digging deep bulks in a big space so we had a lot of soil to move and got warmed up really fast. ... read more

Day 56: The Last Month in Poros This morning I woke up to my alarm at 8:55am, washed up and Jenn came over. We tried calling Lisa up but she was passed out from the sleeping meds she took last night and said to go without her. So the two of us walked to Neil and Gioria’s for breakfast with eggs, kiwi, banana, tomato and cheese in hand. We go there just past 9am and he started cooking right away. We started the morning off with savory cheese, tomato and bacon crepes, then finished our meal off with a banana, nutella and kiwi crepe each. It was delicious and very satisfying. After that Jenn and I helped do the dishes, then walked back to our place to rest for an hour before we went out for ... read more

Day 55: Halloween This morning I got up at 8am, I couldn’t sleep any longer, and with the time-change I gained an extra hour of sleep! I skyped with my boyfriend for a little while, until 9am, when Jenn came up and we left for Neil’s. He was making us French toast for breakfast and I supplied the eggs. We were the first to arrive, then Lisa came after spending the night at Jerry’s, and Gioria woke up. We waited for about half an hour for Geoffrey, then started frying them up. He made them with eggs, cream, nutmeg, cinnamon and sugar, so we didn’t even miss not having maple syrup, which Geoffrey was suppose to bring but never showed up. Regardless, breakfast was delicious and Neil invited us over for crepes for breakfast tomorrow morning. ... read more

Day 54: 26km Walk to Skala This morning I got up just past 8:30am, washed up and changed, then logged on to skype with my boyfriend before he went to bed and I left for my day-walk. I had breakfast as we spoke so I could digest it properly before the walk. I also boiled an egg, sliced oranges in soccer slices, packed a 1.5L water bottle, granola bars and my camera for the day’s trip. At 10am I met Jenn and Mae downstairs; Ryan was hungover, Joe was too tired, Steph was too busy and lazy to come out, and Sara bailed because she had scholarship applications to start and due in 2 days. So it was just us 3 girls, it was a nice and small group. We headed out and Penny, our golden ... read more
