Tuesday, 13th January, 2009. We went to the reception downstairs and had some drinks and coffee, while updating the blog. We went for a short walk in the town and got some more pastries. We were not overly hungry after having a really good late lunch. We returned to the room and ate the pastries, which were delicious. We don't have pastry shops at home like they have here. Monday, 12th January, 2009. We went to the reception area at eight thirty and ordered some drinks and coffee. We connected to the internet and updated the blog. After this we went for a short stroll in the vicinity. We bought some pastries and went back the hotel. The town was quiet. We ate the pastries when we got back and then retired for the evening. Sunday, 11th January, 2009, continued. Spoke to our families this morning. All is well at home, apparently pretty cold and a heavy frost last night. We settled in one of the bars and the ship left at three o'clock. As we left Piraeus and went out to sea, we could see a large number of various types of vessels, that were just anchored. I had seen something recently about the global economy having an effect on Greek Shipping and that ships were currently laid up, so I assume these were they. Saturday, 10th January, 2009, continued. We left the cabin just before nine and wandered down to the Restaurant, the ship sailed at about this time. We had the following, a four colour salad as a starter, which was carrot, white and red cabbage, and lettuce. Then a special of the day, swordfish steak, and a pork fillet. Pat's meal arrived with brussel sprouts, much to her displeasure, she dislikes them with a passion. I ate them and they were lovely. Friday, 9th January, 2009, continued We relaxed for a while, and changed to go out for a walk and some dinner. There was a Chinese restaurant just round the corner, so this was our choice for tonight. We had meal for two, changed a couple of items, and had the following, a chicken noodle and chicken sweetcorn soup, spring rolls, sweet and sour pork balls, chicken in mushroom sauce, szeuchan beef and fried rice. Thursday, 8th January, 2009. A bright sunny morning. I took some pictures from the balcony as it looked so nice. Need to think about what we are doing today. On another subject, the travelblog holds various information about how often it is viewed and all that sort of stuff. As at this morning, our travelblog has now been viewed on 1919 occasions. Wednesday continued We went out about seven thirty, the intention being to wander round the town and have something to eat. I had thought that a lot of the shops would still be open, but there was less than I expected. We ended up in a bar on the seafront called La Bamba. We had a couple of Gin & Tonic's and Coke lights. While there we had a long discussion about our possible travel plans and our short and long term future. Sunday, 4th January, 2009. A cloudy, but bright start to the day. We managed to sit out for a while enjoying the weather. Pat cooked the chicken sausages, with some baked beans for our lunch. We left the villa about one o'clock and took a walk along the beach, watching the sea. We stopped at Gecko, and whilst there updated the blog and caught up with our emails. Sunday, 28th December, 2008. We drove down to the town just after twelve and popped into Gecko Bar to say hello. Whilst there we updated the blog. We had arranged that we would watch the Liverpool versus Newcastle football match at Status. Jonnie supports Liverpool and Steve supports Newcastle. Liverpool sadly won 5 - 1. It rained again during the afternoon, and we left the bar shortly after the game finished. We popped into the supermarket on the way back, for a few bits and pieces. Thursday, 18th December, 2008 We had another very slow start to the day and both read for most of the morning. The weather was very grey and overcast and rained much later in the day.
